Your favorite owned cars from the past.

Another thread got me thinking, so what were your favorite cars you owned in the past. I was driving in the late 70's, so muscle cars from the late 60's were still big. My first car was a 69 Olds Cutlass..paid $350 for it. Heater didn't work, so I defrosted it and warmed it up with a blowdryer every morning, mainly cause a cute girl rode to school with me.

My favorites were a 66 Charger, 69 Ford Torino..429 Cobra Jet, 69 Chevelle..wrecked it. and a 72 Charger, 440 mag, also total loss street racing.... Don't think I paid over 2K for any of them, course that was still some money.

My first car was my father's 1972 Ford Mustang (black). It was kind of a dog in the amount of work that it took in upkeep, but damn if it wasn't cool. I sold it to pay for grad school, which I regret doing. I love my little Civic now, but there are days that I long for the old Mustang.

My absolute favorite was my 1973 Buick Estate Wagon. Nine passenger Porche. Tank. Urban Assault Vehicle. 455 CID/4 barrel. Simply a kick butt car to have in my college days. She could carry a keg or two! :03:

AVG, I've heard that those things were freaking indestructable.

Yes sir. I drove the car over 200 miles with a whining transmission. I found the filter in the tranny was clogged. Replaced same and new fluid. Whining gone and shifted like butter. Bullet proof! I used to take her to the drag strip. I dropped on some dual exhaust. Lots of fun. Made it from Baltimore Inner Harber to College Park MD in 30 minutes. That is normally a 60 minute drive. I was not driving. My college bud was. I said your ticket if you get pulled over. You see that car coming up in the rear view mirror, you move over fast! It was a real urban assault vehicle. Hummer ain't got nothing on it. Had the motor to back it up. The thing flew for such a tank.

Loved that car. It was like a little humvee. Could go anywhere, do anything.

Those Izuzu's were underrated. So was the Mitsubishi Montero IMO. Just cool little trucks.

1999 WS6 Trans Am, by far my favorite to date

5.7L LS1 V8 cranking out 320 HP

Took it to a track once, my best run out of three yielded a 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds with a quarter mile track time of 12.7 seconds... all stock, no mods.

I had to save money for several months in anticipation of getting new tires and still had to borrow a couple of hundred dollars. the car used the Goodyear Eagle F1 P275/40ZR17 tires which, at the time ran at a cost of about $320+ each after taxes and shop costs were applied... thats over $1,200 to change the freaking tires :o

probably wasnt the best buying decision ever, expensive car, and every dime i earned at the time went toward it (i was single and working every day).

eventually i sold it on ebay to pay for additional flight training which was needed for a higher rating than i held.

I miss the hell out of that ride.

as i have grown older... i require something more practical

the Nissan Frontier, probably my second favorite vehicle

Lincolns are very nice rides.

My coworker still has his Firebird GR. Keeps it in the garage. It is the LS1.

My mother drove a 1990 Lincoln Town Car up until her death. You didn't feel a thing when you drove it; it was the most luxurious ride I have ever had. The major downsides were twofold: It was rear wheel drive, so it handled like crap in the snow, and it required a lot of work as it got older. I ended up selling it after she died.
