New Message Received

It's early September 39. There's radio messages coming in about every 30 mins in game time. I've installed the reduced messages mod via JSGME but it doesn't seem to be working properly/at all. Quite honestly the game is unplayable at the moment.

Any suggestions other than taking my radioman off duty for the remainder of the patrol? I'd rather not resort to that for realism purposes but if needs must....

Right at the start of things there are a lot of messages, even with the mod installed. If you're running in TC it can seem like every couple of seconds you're getting more orders about who's declaring war and who you can attack and who to leave alone and reminders about the Prize Rules and whatnot.

It does get better once the craziness of the first few days/weeks of the war are over and the "state of things" is more or less settled and a status quo is established.

If it really bothers you, you can always take the crewman out of the radio compartment, you won't get new message alerts. If you've played through those days before and aren't worried about missing something of dire importance that you didn't already know was coming anyway, it's not a bad idea. It's not like you *need* a radio message to know that you'll be at war with Poland on the 1st and England on the 3rd, lol.

Wait..... war with England? This thing shoots? I thought it was just a version of a shipping simulator that dove.

:hmmm:

Hmmmm.... explains why those convoys I tried to form up with got all uppity.

It can be a nuisance at times, but goes away after your a few days into the war. Start after 1940 and you wont get so many, but will start to miss them.

I downloaded the Ship Simulator Extremes Demo from Steam, and it was the biggest pile of plop, what with it not being very simulatory or extreme. I had more fun playing the game somebody posted on here the other week that used google maps!

Back to OT. Frau, as usual, hit it on the head with removing the crewman, just remember to put him back if you want to report a big, juicy convoy to BdU.

One gamer's "realism" is another gamer's "unplayable".

You need to study up on your Old Sayings. :O:

All I gotta say is... if you think it's bad with the reduced messages, try taking the mod off for the first month of the war.

Actually one could always mod the mod and remove some of the messages that are no longer necessary if you're already familiar with the events/orders involved.

Below is a link to a mod by Wreford-Brown:

http://www.filefront.com/14067951/GW...n_Os_Lite.rar/

It will work with stock/vanilla and the reduction in messages (228 in total) will probably mean you can keep your radio man on station.

This mod is based upon GWX 3.0 Mission Orders plus a cut down version of the original GWX 3.0 messages. It makes you receive only 228 messages throughout the campaign.
