My video oldie (The Blind Man's Tale) available again!

Hi everyone,

For those who might remember, "The Blind Man's Tale" was an old 12-minute Silent Hunter III video/story that I created way back in 2005, soon after SH3 was released. Obviously, it's not technically very fancy, but I wanted to make up for it with a good atmosphere and story. For those who don't remember - well, it was a little video that told a story of the memories of an old submariner, incorporating a bit of the animated series Monster in the introduction where the protagonist meets just such a character - an blind U-boat veteran in his 80s to whom the horrors of war still stand out clearly. The video also uses the soundtrack from said animated series.

A full version of the video hasn't been available anywhere for almost 3 years, as it was too long for youtube and all my previous permanent hosts went down. A shorter, 7-minute version has been on youtube for a while, but it is incomplete and the quality is fairly poor.

However now that I've realized that youtube allows videos over 10 minutes, I put it back up.

For those that care to give it a look, or those who remember it from way back and wished to see it again - enjoy :)

I still have my copy I downloaded all those years ago.

It's still one of the best videos out there, but you can tell the difference in the stock guages you were forced to use at the time and the correct ones we have these days. :sunny:

Haha, yeah - that was still early days for SHIII. Very few mods are used here - that was back in the day even before Real U-Boat came around I think. More than the stock gauges though, what annoyed me was the stock cameras. I'm actually kind of surprised that we haven't had very many recent SHIII (or other SH) story videos or music videos - the game's really come a long way in atmosphere and things like S3D really help when you want to tweak cameras and other bits :yep:

Thanks guys!

+1

Still have my copy I downloaded back when it was first released as well. Pretty much my favorite SH3 movie, love the begining and atmosphere of the video even though it was created with stock game files. Watching the video is like going back in time and seeing what SH3 use to be, and the video still stands to be great even today. Thanks CCIP!
