Imperial Units Does Not Work
I seem to be finding more and more problems with this sim. Maybe its because I have the Steam version? Anyhow, I have ordered the DVD version.
Anyway, lets get back to what I wanna ask. When I watch tutorial videos, especially the one that explains the 3 minute rule for finding speed, I noticed that when I try and get distance I can not see it in Yards. I can not see that the ship I am chasing has moved 1000 yards in 3 minutes, for example. All I see is 0.3nm or something similar. I put it on Imperial in the sim but does not do anything. I even don't have the 3000 yard bearing plotter that RokkinRobins(?) describes in his video when he zooms in sufficiently. The video tutorial I am specifically talking about in this thread is the Dick OKane targeting video. Is the Yard's and the Yard Bearing plotter mods? Sorry for such noob questions. If I could actually figure this stuff out I may finally be able to get somewhere with this sim. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |
I worked it out. The steam version of SH4 was only 1.3 and the only way I could get 1.5 was by purchasing and downloading the U-Boat Missions addon.
All my problems have been fixed. |
Glad we were able to help :D
That's what we are here for. :know: Welcome aboard. :salute: |
Yup, this thread answed some of my quiries... I was not sure what Steam version I had. When I first played SH4 I could only resolve a 4:3 aspect ractio... since installing the U-Boat missions I now have 1280x1650 widescreen  and I presume v.1.5...
I have not added anything else yet from the d/loads... I wonder if Steam will object (not run the sim!) if I mess with the file structure? IJammer |
IJammer, I have recently downloaded two mods - 3000 bearing range plotter and magnified hud dials (speed, heading and depth dials). Installed with JSGME and everthing works fine.
I did install these mods before updating to 1.5 and the game crashed. The update from U-Boat Missions on steam works like a charm. So go ahead, start moding your SH4! P.S. Sunk my first ship last night using Dick O'Kane method. Although it was a single mission that I created so that I can practice what I lean't, it should work in Career Mode also. But anyway, a ship sunk is a ship sunk in my book :) |
