ok, so I'm thinking about creating a website with a few friends, and one of my buddies gave me this great idea.

Would you go on a forum, that instead of replying with text, we reply with videos?
its like omegle, but instead of talking to random strangers, it will be a forum, and each thread is a discussion over webcam. For threads that have less people, you can record your response

what do you guys think?(assuming that this is technically possible)

It's technically possible, but I don;t think it would be something I'd be interested in. It would take too long to create the video's upload them and then post them compared to typing a few words. Also not one wants to see a load of videos with nothing more to say than "LOLZ"!

I'm maybe thinking about a "quick reply" function that you can click and it will automatically use your webcam to record and quickly reply to the thread

and maybe for more popular threads it could just be a video chat room

though trolls will be a big problem

Nope. Too much trouble/work. Typing in text and hitting a button is much, simpler, easier, faster.

i think it would be best if it uses webcam support

Maybe just do voice recordings instead? I've seen people do the video response already on youtube.

So...beer makes you stupid? (something I wouldn't dream of posting on that thread. Well, actually I did dream of it, but good sense got the better of me)

Back on topic. I guess if webcams were used it might work, but then wouldn't it be easier to just chat rather than have posts with the videos?

But the web makes people anonymous, and the trolls like it that way. Also, if the videos were all posted via links, what would keep real trolls from just typing stuff anyway.

And people would post comments on each others' videos as well, so who knows how it would actually work?

Not for me, I'm afraid. Never liked webcams despite my Adonis-like qualities *coughs*, it may be a hit if you can find a load of teenagers to agree on something but for the older gamer I think typing is juuuuust fine. :yep:

I don't know. I'm still getting used to typing and the whole internet thing.
Give me a decade or two to think about it. :zzz:
