How to report convoy sighting
 

Playing TMO/RSRD. What must you do to enable the Convoy reporting button?
I tracked the IJN convoy heading for Mariannas June 17-19, locked onto a CA
but the Convoy button would not activate.

You have to be on the surface in sight of the convoy. The surgeon general reports that this may be hazardous to your health.

In the vanilla version, you also had to visibly sight at least three of the ships. If you had one or two ships in sight, and had radar contact with the rest, it would not work.

I can't remember if this was changed in TMO or RFB.

Is it possible to change so that you can report a convoy from radar or hydrophone contacts?

I only locked on two ships!! As RR replied this surface experience even though I was near 9000 yds away became quite "injurious" to my crews well being.
But I have a few Saves to try again.

If you surface ready to make that report and hit the crash dive button as soon as you clear the antennas, I'm virtually confident that they probably won't hurt you too bad.....:hmmm:

I see no reason to report any convoy of TF sighting, you get nothing for it but trouble, no points, no help, nada a thing.

It's ashame someone can't mod some points for reporting TF to make it worth the risk. For some subs that was the mission, to report and not attack.

I thought we DID get a couple renown points for reporting a convoy!

Someone should simply change it so convoy can be reported from radar depth to simulate the raising of the antenna.Currently I believe you do get renown for reporting and you need to go to 37 feet at least for most subs, then look at the report convoy button, if youre out of the water enough, itll send the report, check "sent messages" to ensure.Can usually do this quickly and undetected but radar depth would be better.Someone mod it in for TMO!

I got my orders before sailing. So, I took the tubes out of Sparky's radio as soon as we left port. No good news ever comes through that thing. I sure as hell don't want to give the pinheads the opportunity to waste our time. Or our boat. I report contacts to my XO. He reports them to me.

Yeah, it can get a little aggravating when COMSUBPAC tells you to break contact that other assets will handle it. Happened 5 convoys in a row before I was finally allowed to have a little "fun"

You can ignore that message and attack, you'll still get the same amount of points.

Once had a long thread on this and the consesus was no points....can you verify and how many. If so, may be worth reporting. Be interesting what and how the points are awarded if so, do you get more based on contact.
Do you know where the renown files would be, I could never find any.
