Christmas bombast (photo series)

Glarier the lights never shine

Pewh. The lack of taste of some people surprises me again every year. It seems to be the season again when some people wage war against their neighbours. :D

What I would like? Simple warm-white lights without blinking on the outside firs, at best a non-blinking coloured light-chain. Christmas trees inside that are colourful and a child'S dream. Because that is what it is about for me, for the most: the children, and own childhood memories. I liked August's tree in the photo-thread, for example.

hey it's viewing pleasure and they are not charging you or the neighbors. All good to me!

Is it? I would say it hurts the eyes! :DL thankfully, in Germany things like this are still very rare on private properties. Christmas markets, well, that is something different.

Great, :DL

Ridiculous.

Jebus H. C :o Lack of taste is an understatment. :haha:

The house in Melbourne (pic 7) is quite cool.

How can a smiling blow-up snowman and Homer and Bart as Santa be called tasteless? You're a bunch of barbarians! :nope: :D

When it comes to decorating the exterior of one's home there is but one major rule in my opinion... keep it simple.

Well thank you. I used a lot less lights and accouterments this year than in past Christmases and apparently it is quite popular.

Let's see:

The Volkswagen (#9) was cool, the train car (#10) was overdone, but might look cool driving around the city, and the fountain (#11) was pretty. Everything else should be flushed down the nearest sewer.

Today I learned that obnoxious Christmas light displays are not just an American thing.

Tacky, tacky, tacky.

Just think of all that extra money the power companies are making this time of year!
