Widescreen fix not working HeLP

I enabled the higher resolution fix now currently at 1680x1050. The game became stretched as expected. Then I installed the fix for widescreen but its not working. I'm using GWX 3.0 and activating the fix in JSGME but all it seems to to is zoom in the camera closer to everything. The game is still stretched as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've been trying for hours to fix this. Nobody have any clue as to why the FoV becomes really close inside the sub yet the stretching still remains?

Here is a pic of what I mean: (dont mind the white they only appear in the screen shots)

Nothing like the pictures I have seen around the forum with the fix.

Can you please state the precise ResMod you are using and any other mods since this shall provide some content.

Thanks

It's designed for a fixed resolution:

DisplayWidth=1360
DisplayHeight=768

So do not change those values. And of course it will stretch to the full screen size by the graphical card/monitor but you will no oval periscope view etc.

You cannot apply the Widescreen Mod (Which has; and must use its fixed Resolution to compliment the GUI!) over the HiRes mod(where you can chose a Res of your own; which will stretch the image).

Those are two different things!

Pick One!

Is there a wide screen fix for laptop use with SH3?

Lance71 12-27-10 01:50 AM

Hi, kaleunes!!:salute:
I use widescreen laptop. Beautyful results achived by usage d3d.dll + Widescreen GUI mode (widescreen MaGUI v3.4 + widescreenFix).

d3d.dll make 3d-screen wider, GUI modes replace raster screens...

Usage d3d.dll need some changes in its *.ini file: You must set desired resolution and duplicate it in main.cfg file in SHIII config directory (at Your Documents folder)

Good hunting!
Regards, Lance71!

I do not understand how to do this. :oops:

Hi, CTU_Clay!

All *.ini and *.cfg files can be edited by Notepad.exe ;)
Find in configurations files string

Resolution=1024 x 768 (in main.cfg)

or

DisplayWidth=1024
DisplayHeight=768 (in 3d3.ini)

and replace numbers to Your desired resolution (which You can see in screen properties)

Regards, Lance71

resolution can be set only in the d3d9.dll *.ini file, because the dll use this to overwrite the settings from the main.cfg

There are two solutions available, both with limitations!

1. The HighRes-Fix from Kegetys (a d3d9.dll replacement)
http://www.kegetys.net/dl.php/dx9res10.zip
limitations:
- supports only 4:3 resolution, no widescreen 16:10 or 16:9
- if set to widescreen res -> stretched graphics in SH3
- needs extra configuration on Windows XP without SP2
- not working with all graphic card driver settings

2. Two widescreen mods (includes my own implementation of d3d9.dll)
GUI for GWX with widescreen
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=166094
MaGUI with widescreen
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=175278

limitations:
- 2D GUI is designed only for 1360x768 res.
- needs extra configuration on Windows XP without SP2
- not working with all graphic card driver settings
- only a limited hardware+driver combination can scale up the resolution of 1360x768 to higher monitor settings without stretching
