Lifeboats and Debris

I installed the Lifeboats and Debris mod. I'm seeing a lot of debris when I sink Allied ships, but have yet to spot a lifeboat. Am I doing something wrong?

Don't sink them so fast.

As per the prize rules, you must surface within a few hundred meters of the ship, warn the Captain and crew of your intentions, and then give them time to board the life boats. After they are safely away, you may capture or sink the ship as you please. Only if the are armed or resist your efforts may you immediately sink them.

I installed this mod last week, and I love it. When I first noticed it I had torpedoed a large freighter in bad weather at night, and while watching through the scope waiting for it to sink I saw something left in the wake. It looked like a life boat popping up between the waves now and again, so I switched to external camera to have a look. Sure enough, there were two little life rafts with several bedraggled sailors in them, paddling themselves away from the sinking ship. Superb stuff. Then I actually thought about what was going on, and I felt like a bit of a scumbag. It certainly added a new dimension to the simulation.

So far I've seen life rafts and trails of debris and oil on several of my victims, usually ones where the guys have time to get to the boats. Blow something up with one shot and there's rarely anything, but torpedo a small merchant and if it takes a while to sink, there's almost always life rafts and crates being washed overboard. I would recommend the mod to anyone who wants to add that little bit more realism.

Does this work with GWX 3.0? It sounds amazing

Yes, in fact it was made with the assistance of at least one ex-GWX team member.

Some of the smaller ships spawn debris only....you should see liferafts with the larger victims though.

Probably not. Not every type of ship will spawn lifeboats every time you sink one.

In my experience the larger the ship and the longer it takes to go down (after enough damage has been done to sink it) the better the chance that you'll see lifeboats in the water.

However there is no need to surface and announce your intentions, lol. Even if you did the mod doesn't put lifeboats in the water until after a ship is attacked. Pretending to follow Prize Rules won't make any difference.

This is one of my favorite mods. Adds a lot to the game atmosphere.

There is an update of all the animated figures to be released soon.

I've got the new system running good so I can finally finish the work.
They are much more detailed for close up shots and a few new things are
sure to grab your 'immersion' and take it to new hights!

I kinda figured you were too seasoned not to be joking, without a :O: though I wasn't sure the OP or a newbie reading along would know that.

Would hate for some poor kaleun out on his first patrol to surface next to a freighter and demand to see her papers, only to find out it's one of Jimbuna's Q-ships. :D

Was just hoping for some giggles......

Frau, do not like as much, if so "easy" things, like giggles it must be heavier and more exotic things to tame her to laugh, :D
