Giants-Vikings Game Unlikely After Metrodome's Roof Partially Collapses

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Giants-Vikings game is not likely to be played Monday night after the Metrodome's inflated roof collapsed in a snowstorm that had already forced the game to be delayed a day.

The dome suffered damage to two of its triangle-shaped panels and that workers were still assessing the situation, Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission Executive Director Bill Lester said Sunday.

As a consolation, it looks like the Vikes argument for a new stadium has new legs.

nikimcbee 12-12-10 12:36 PM

Now they are playing in Detroit! wtf.

Can't play at TCF (Uof M) field because:
  • Stadium has been shut down for winter
  • Giants aren't prepared to play outside
  • and the big one, No fox crew there:-?.

Well, on the plus side, Ford Field is a very nice facility. On the minus, it is in Detroit.

I have an idea. Maybe we could trade stadiums?:hmmm: The metrodome (in its current condition) would fit right in, in detroit.:haha:

A tarp and some duct tape will fix that problem!

It's another example of Buildings that were not well thought out.
:nope:
MINNEAPOLIS and INFLATABLE ROOFS over large spans?

WTF were the designers thinking?
'Oh, it don't snow there much.'
I hope the people involved get thier arses handed to them in a major Law Suit!

Indeed. And from yesterday to boot.

Football is played outside and in any weather, save for lightning. However, the simple fact is that you cannot play in a building where the roof is threatening to collapse.
