Gran Turismo 5
Figured it might not be a bad idea to have a dedicated general GT5 thread rather than using the news thread, and that post I made about the trailer ages ago lol.
And what better time too! Has anybody noticed the wonderful new patch, which not only adds mechanical damage but actually FIXED THE SHADOWS!!!! Somewhat anyway, they still aren't perfect but the AA is miles better than it was :D Kudos to Polyphony for listening to us and getting it done quckly :salute: |
1.03 took like 10 minutes to load on the main menu, so I was worried that it broke the game, but then it went through and worked normally.
Gawd typing wasted is a pain in the ass. Maybe I should try racing like this. |

I'll try it out and get back to you.

Racing at 3am while drunk... yeah, let us know how it's working out. :D

I got the game on release day and was doing fine then my old fat 80Gb PS3 died on me.
That meant it was a trip of the shop to buy a new 320Gb slim PS3. After that i was not only £280 pounds worse off I also had to start the game again from the beginning. Now after a full week of playing for a few hours im sort of back to where i was. So where is everyone else at in game? Im level 15 A spec and level 6 B Spec PSN treblein99 feel free to add me. |
nearly 15 A-Spec, 2 B-Spec :D, Licenses A, B, IC, IB, IA. Finished quite a bit of the challenges too :)
|
19 A-Spec & 8 B-Spec.
Really pushing for lvl 20 and should get it tonight, I want those endurance races. |

That Elise race is dastardly hard. :damn: |
Have always HATED driving the Elise in previous versions.
Found my copy of GT5 in the mailbox tonight. Just had a quick couple of laps and reached Level A1 in my used Toyota MR-S. Actually quite a spirited little car. Looking after the wifes parents at the moment, so any faint hope I have of playing has gone out the window for the next few weeks. :wah: |
Even a shorter break has its consequences, I got problems with high powered RWD cars again.
The transition from GT5 to rFactor isn't as bad as it was with GT4 to rFactor. |

If your RWD cars are spinning out under braking and acceleration, firstly change the Brake Bias to 4 front & 7 rear, then take a look at the LSD settings and adjust to suit your driving style. ;) I initially, crapped myself when I first took the Lambo Gallardo for a spin.:D A little tweak here and there and she now power slides nicely. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s...JpEE4mx6_0.jpg |
Brake bias to rear? :o
I've always had brake bias to the front in sims. I always forget to change the bias in GT5 though. Brake bias to the rear has a risk to lock the rear brakes, much worse than the fronts locking up. :dead: If the fronts lock up you go straight, and if the rears lock. You'll spin off, unless you react quick enough. :) |

@ Lionclaw
Just try it, especially on the Gallardo. ;) With 5:5 settings the rear end would always spin out under braking (even in a straight line). Putting the rear bias tames the rear end enough to stabilise the whole car. You still have to be careful if you brake late and are still braking when turning but it makes the Gallardo less twitchy. |
