Editing starting renown
Is there any way that i can edit my starting renown? I'm running GWX and SH3 Commander. Is there a simple way to do this? I know how to edit my renown after a patrol, but how can I edit it before I start a patrol in a new career?

Why edit before your first patrol?
If you upgrade upon commencing a career you are stacking the odds against you that the game will develop a fault. Better to start your first career by literally sailing 50km + away from your base then teleporting back. |

Ahh, OK. I'll try that. I didn't want a bunch of renown when I started, just about 2000 or so. Then I could afford an anti-sonar coating, better batteries, hydrophones, good officers, etc. But thanks anyways. I'll try what you said.

Never buy anything buy anything before your first patrol. Anything that delays a first-day start will keep you from getting credit for ships sunk on that patrol. |

Haven't found a way to edit basic.cfg to increase starting reknown.
However, you can edit that file to change the quantity of reknown earned for (1) reaching objective (2) completing objective, and (3) ending patrol. Having done that, buy the CPO's and SR Seamen you need to fill out the ranks, pick any one-qual, no cost officer and go to sea. Go to the objective (earn the reknown), complete the 24 hour patrol there (more reknown), and teleport back to base. You will no doubt have sunk one or two ships as well enroute or while patrolling the objective. Give any medals earned only to those crew you intend to keep (your qualified PO's). Dismiss unwanted officers and ratings and buy the ones you want. Then upgrade your boat. I have not tried, but I suppose it is possible, to edit that same file to increase the reknown earned by completing the Academy before your first mission. |
