fleet command in Win 7 on steam

Hi all, my dad got FC in steam on win 7 after having the janes cd version for years(he keeps an old computer around to run that, it being his favorite game).
FC seems to lag with the mouse once the mission starts- if it gets that far, it might just seem to hang up and freeze as well. Any one know of any solutions, or am i doomed, up a creek?

It seems you have to use a glide wrapper to run in 3dfx mode with newer nvidia cards/drivers.

It may be the drivers because after the 186 or so version they broke some older games.

Mine also runs choppy in 2d map. Glide wrapper works and fast. No crashes either.

Search for nglide or dgvoodoo.
