Multiplayer CTD

Hello subsim!! After a long absence, I've returned.

For the past week I've been playing SH3 again with a friend. We both installed GWX and did some online games without problem.

Earlier today, I installed the MaGui mod, and the SH3speech mod to check them both out.

My friend and I can still play togheter on MP without problems, but whenever the first torpedo hits, he crashes back to desktop.
After trying a few times, I turned of the MaGui and SH3 speech mods with JGSME, and the problem still happens.

Any ideas on solving?

(Shameless bump?)

No other mods added by either of you?

Kip336 11-12-10 10:52 AM

Not that I know of.

We both confirmed that we are running the same mods before we launched SH3 and tried MP again.

A file has more than likely been overwritten meaning both of your installs are not identical.

Possible solution would be for both of you to perform new installations.

A PITA I know but may be the only remedy.

Hmk. I'll reinstall

Once I've done that, is it OK to make a 2nd copy for SH3? One for single player campaigns thats modded, and one that I use for MP?

Yes...it doesn't matter what mods you've got activated for single player because your the only one playing.

It is mult player that requires all participants to have identical installations.

Well, obviously one of my mods did something to my SH installation.

I'm saying, is it OK to copy the vanilla SH3, rename the folder to "SH3 - modded", and use that folder for offline play with mods enabled?

Madox58 11-13-10 07:22 PM

YES!
Just make sure you use MultiSH3 to rename the other installs.
Do it as many times as you want then.
Now maybe someday I'll follow my own advice!

You will be fine but do as Privateer states regarding Multi SH3 otherwise your game won't know what save is applicable to what installation and each game installation will CTD.
