New 1/350 USS Virginia Model
|
Oh Yeah! Gonna get me one of those!
:yeah: |
It appears as if they have molded some of the odd shapes beyond the cylindrical.
|
interesting renders, that's for sure.
I'll definitely have to get one! I am adding to my 1/350 fleet this christmas |
The pumpjet is all wrong in the renders.

The propulsor is also one of the most secret parts of the sub, and it's very difficult to find any good info on the ones fitted to new subs. That picture of the torpedo propulsor is one of the few decent shots I was able to find for reference when I was making my model subs last week. The info is proving hard to come by.

I just got around to ordering a copy and am looking forward to its delivery.

I just received mine... gonna need a bit of work to make it look good. As is, the raised surface detail is crude and overdone (what are those, 6-inch high weld joints on the hull?)
:hmm2: |

Do those "6-inch high weld joints on the hull" look like the stuff here? http://www.navsource.org/archives/08/0877435.jpg |
Yes, looks like the designers were using that photo (or another one like it) when Virginia was fitted out with special instrumentation for sea trials.
