Bad weather jackets missing in storm

Hi, mates. I have a recurrent question in SH4: the bad weather jackets missing in storms. I use Sh4 1.5 + TMO2 + RSRDC (plus TMO Beta Update plus RSRDC Patch).

When save a patrol in course, with bad weather, I have the lookouts with his jackets. When return to game, loading the mission/patrol, the jackets missed, and the poor guys are with shirts in that storm! :wah:

I make diverse tests: change the lookouts of position, change the lookouts with crew of machine rooms, control room, and so on...Ever change the lookout, but without the jacket.:damn:

I think the TMO Beta Update corrects the issue, but nothing...Is the same ethernal bug.

Is there some actualization for the correction of this problem, some tip?:hmmm:

Many thanks and regards.

Did you try diving and surfacing again? SH3 also removes the wet-weather gear when reloading during a storm, and that has always worked for me in both games.

Ducimus 11-08-10 09:44 PM

Foul weather gear not appearing is a code level bug with SH4 (and, not surprisingly, SH5 as well).

When a crewman put on their bad weather gear is.. or rather was... dictated by the stormconditions variable in the submarines CFG file. (data/submarines/NSS_whatever/NSS_whatever.cfg).

Adjust it to whatever wind speed you want, it doesn't appear to work.

RAIN does work. Wind, doesn't seem to. So crewman only put on their bad weather gear in the rain, not heavy seas.

Many thanks, Ducimus. Now navigating to Pearl from patrol in Phillipines, with heavy seas, wind and rain ( I see a moderate rain...). Crew without the jackets...It seems with rain not working, too, or bads reports. Or only with rain, without wind? (if that condition is possible...).

Please, observe the weather report: Precipitation none??? Yes, from the report, only winds and crew without jackets, but I have rain!

Seems not only the bug on jackets, the reports are "realistics" (when rain, tell "precipitation none", glup!).

Yeah ive seen that. I believe its related to time compression issues. Something goes out of sync there.

Yep, concur, had it happen dozens of times same issues as D points out.

Ok, thanks. I´m using high compression in the return journey to Pearl.

Is there some mod for have the crew ever with caps/hats?

Best regards.

It's one big PITA. Never tried diving and resurfacing as Steve suggests:hmmm: In SH3, all I would do is drag the guys inside, then back out again. That would fix it. This dosn't work in SH4. As the screenies show, the weather report shows "no precip". That's the problem. The game thinks, the rain has stopped, so the guys don't need the raingear. The other thing that always irked me, as someone mentioned, is the fact that unlike SH3, the sailors in SH4 will not don the foul weather gear unless it is a full blown rain event. The heaviest of seas don't matter. I guess they like getting wet. I always wondered if this was an oversight of the Devs, or dose it have to do with the obvious design differences between Fleetboats and German U boats. Could it be the bridges of Fleetboats stayed more dry than those of the U boats?

I´ll try the diving/surfacing way. The weather report - according Ducimus - seems unsinchronized because the time compression used. I think the report tell "precipitations none" and only wind, the lookouts work without the jackets. The rain we are seeing is an unsinchronized event.

Spray is spray no matter what boat your on , U-boat, Fleet Boat, 688, there low to the water and your more than likely to get wet once and a while.

Some test with the relation bad weather jackets - weather report - graphics of weather:

In patrol near Pearl, observe the report: "precipitations heavy"---> bad weather jackets in lookouts. We see the rain (graphics).

No time compression.

Save the patrol and exit the game to desktop.

Run SH4, load the same patrol, the same situation saved with "precipitations heavy". No time compression:

Report: "precipitation none"---> bad weather jackets off----We can see the rain (graphics), but report is without precipitations.

Seems the saving game operation alters the weather situation, change the report, the jackets are after the report, and the graphics don´t change. Please, observe in the report only changes the rain condition: wind, fog, etc, no changes.

I´m not an expert in modding, but I think the key of the problem is in the mode of saving the games. Is there some cfg file, or other, where the situational data of saved games (pos., weather, time, etc.) is saved?.

Only a idea...:hmmm:

Like I said, this also happens with SH3. Diving and resurfacing always works for me.

I make that, but not working...

In SH3, I change the lookouts and works fine.

With this one I gave up a long time ago diving/surfacing etc and just call it "strange weather" instead.

I figure if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. So, in my help file I added the reminder:

Ctrl+N Resets strange weather

Instant correction. After a couple watch changes the seas pick back up, SH4 returns to normal, and the crew are dressed appropriately.

To be fair, I avoid all contact with enemy shipping for 16 hours.

Happy Hunting!

Good...I load the patrol with rain, I press Ctrl + N (report sound contacts command in TMO) with the weather report of "Precipitations None" (but rain visible and no jackets), the weather change automatically to good...This resets all the weather situation.

Is this the way you tell? I think I´m making some wrong...

There are many archives MAP, MIS, REP, CLR, TSG, SPO, etc...in the My documents\SH4 folder, for the saved games. I think the bug is in some of this files...

Many thanks!
