What a Beautifull Landing

Just watched live on the news that Qantas Airbus 380 land at LAX.

I understand it had a problem. Caught that part late and don't know what it was.

Quantas has grounded the A380 after an uncontained engine fault on one ten mins out from Changi (Singapore). That one landed ok, I think the rest are getting down sharpish.

The incident was definitely not at LAX, however having been to LA twice in the last couple of months and flying through the airport, I've enjoyed watching Quantas A-380 operations while there. You might've just seen archive footage of one flying there. They're awesome to look at in the air. It seems like Quantas has at least two 380s based there (at least I'd seen two at a time on the ground there), so I'm sure their operation will be affected by this grounding....

They have six in operation, with more on order....

Yup, that's what I'm gathering from these articles. I assume up to now half of them flew east (i.e. US), half flew west (Indochina/Europe). It was certainly very cool to see two of them on the ground at the same time at LAX. Pretty sure they're the only 380 operator on that field now, though I might be wrong.

Oh yeah, forgot the obligatory self-made pics:

One on the pad:

And one at the gates:

Which later pushes back for departure...
