The planes in Spain fly mainly over the plains which look rather plain except after it rains.

Is that from this weekend's Wings Over Houston?

The plane flying over the plain would experience no gain only pain.

I shall deign to explain this wordy train for those insane enough to cross the grain.

Mistaking "plain" for "plane" was only the start of the train. Continuing in this vein is, on the main, rather inane. I hearby ordain that any thane continuing this bane should be slain.
