SH3 vs SH4 loading time...
HI all,
:hmmm: Is there anybody here who know why SH3's mission loading time is dramatically much longer than SH4, which have much more 3D graphics data to load than SH3 ? Regards |
SH3 has to load every ship and every plane that can appear during the entire war. Loading times go up with a mod like GWX because it adds a much larger number of ships.
SH4 was specifically designed to fix that problem. It only loads the 6-month period surrounding the start date. This leads to people who only refit and never end the patrol suddenly complaining that there are no more targets. |
So which do you think is better?
|
Both. Why do these posts continually want peeps to choose?
|
Oh, I think SH4 definitely is better.
For loading times. :rotfl2: |

SH4 is faster but you don't get time to brew up a nice hot cuppa, unlike SH3 and open a box of jaffa cakes as well. :DL

If you like a more "Hollywood" approach, and you think in yourself as Cary Grant in "Tokyo Destiny" or "Operation petticoat" (without the women), the SH4 PTO is your sim. SH4 is a very good sim (with mods - TMO- RFB- RSRDC), and I play it, but SH3 GWX is...better. For SH4 - ATO Operation Monsun - good mod, but with some bugs - SH3 is more immersive and realistic. And for times of charge: My SH3 with all the mods, I obtain 30-35 FPS; with SH4 TMO RSRDC, 60 FPS sinchronized... I think and think about the realistics environments of SH3 and SH4. Is SH4 more realistic? Uhmmm...The atmosfere is more realistic than SH3, but the waves in SH4 TMO aren´t realistic at all. And the ports and bases are poor in comparission with that in SH3 GWX (and more in LSH3V5). And - over all - is the "magic feeling" of play SH3 - more an adventure than the professional navy career of SH4). Regarding SH5: comic heroes, FPS drops drops, only a sub, poor immersivity...I bought SH5, installed, played a campaign and uninistalled. Quickly return to SH3 (I love this game...). Regards.
