Using nav map while paused

This is a newbie question but how can I use the nav map tools while the game is paused? I've seen it being used in a few video tutorials but I can't get it to work on my SH3. I'm using the ACM-GUI.

IIRC you unpause and select map tool and then pause again and tool will work.

Thanks for the tip FIREWALL but they still don't work, when I first select a tool and then pause, it just goes back to the mouse pointer.

I went back to test and paused and was able to use pencil, course plotter and ruler.

I am useing GWX3 but I don't think that makes any difference.

I have GWX3 too, it seems to be the GUI I'm using then (ACM-GUI) I'll try to uninstall it and see if it works.
