Red Orchestra???

Been a huge WW2 game fan, like most here..

As I am exploring other games, games that I have never even heard of this one just came up..

I was a big ww2online fan (at one time) and Aces high2, as well as all the SH series.

I just saw some videos of this game and read a couple things here about it.

But is this game worth it? I think its just ground battles, no air or naval, but did they do it good? the videos look great, but so does ww2online and IMO that game just failed..

So I guess.. how is red Orchestra?

You were a fan of WWIIOL, yet you say it failed?

Anyway, I think RO is a pretty awesome game, but that question is way too vague; what is it specifically you want to know about the game?

PM me your email addy and I'll forward a guest pass to you - if it's still in date! That way you can answer your own questions.

Just checked, I need to send by 17th Oct! :DL

Yes, I was a fan of WW2online and say it failed.. I enjoyed it personally, but it never turned out to be what it was supposed to be.. From day 1, I was the few that started and beta tested as well, with the server issues and all, a bunch of us were up all night waiting and chatting.. It was epic :)

I guess what I want to know about RO, how is the maps? are they big? what about the tanks, are they modeled as well as WW2online?

And all I can find on it, is its 9.99 to buy it from steam, but is there a monthly fee?

The map sizes range anywhere from small to huge, so they are pretty diverse. I can't comment on the tanks, as I barely played them both in WWIIOL and in Red Orchestra.

There isn't a monthly fee; it's a standard multiplayer FPS, not an MMO. I think your best bet is to get a guest pass and try it...

No, tanks aren't as accurately modeled as in WWIIOL.

I like RO, its a good mix of fun and realism. The tanks could use some work, there is no shell penitration, though angleing works nicely IMO. If you angle right (best seems to be 1 and 11 oclock) you are extremely hard to kill, Ive taken 11 hits from a panzer 4, and a panzer 3 in a TB7 and lived, killing both numerous times because of how there angleing was. I must say, the german team was pissed.:yep:

I bought RO on release and played it solidly for a long time, it's a really fun game, and certainly a cut above the average shooter. The only problem is the fact that being somewhat more realistic than most, the number of players is a lot lower than other mainstream games. I'm not sure what the population is like at the moment, but regardless of this it's still worth a go.

A sequel is currently in the works, and from what I've seen thus far, it's looking promising. So now is probably the best time to try the original.

on the servers I play on (the wild bunch) the server are usualy full (50 people) during the day.

Herr-Berbunch 10-13-10 02:48 PM

Wild Bunch servers usually seem busy, but some say 16/50 players and they all end up being bots!!!:nope: Unless I'm doing something wrong - which, after all, is quite likely :D

Task Force 10-13-10 02:51 PM

Hmm, alot of servers have no traffic, if you dont see names in the lower right box, its bots.

Lord_magerius 10-13-10 05:05 PM

You should get Darkest Hour and pop on over to the 29th Infantry Division servers. :yeah:

Ducimus 10-13-10 07:31 PM

Just FYI, you can buy RO, Darkest hour, and the other mod who's name escapes me, in one all inclusive package for 10 USD on steam.
