FBI [alledgedly] caught placing GPS tracking device on students car...

Quote:

A California student got a visit from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation this week after he found a secret GPS tracking device on his car, and a friend posted photos of it online.

The post prompted wide speculation about whether the device was real, whether the young Arab-American was being targeted in a terrorism investigation and what the authorities would do.

Noobs.

I would have attached it to a semi making a cross country haul. Or maybe onto a bus.

Heck. Imagine if you shipped it to Yemen.

I just could not have resisted messing with thier minds. Oh the things I could think of to mess with them.

Then look at them when they came a knocking and asked what kind of lunatics they are.

With that said, the Feds do not do this unless they have some idea that you are up to no good. A judge SOMEWHERE had to give them authorization to do this.

Nope.

His discovery comes in the wake of a recent ruling by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals saying it's legal for law enforcement to secretly place a tracking device on a suspect's car without getting a warrant, even if the car is parked in a private driveway.

A true American would not have complained...

In the words of Red Forman:

"If the US government decides to stick a tracking device up your ass, you say, "Thank You. And God Bless America"."

Your right to privacy is no longer a matter of fact I'm afraid.

This topic makes it painfully clear.

Even further steps are underway to be even more intrusive. The more 'connected' you are the more vulnderable you are. Personally I dont give a crap if they listen to me talking to my wife about cats and stuff.

Yes, but they'd come knocking with an arrest warrant for illegally tampering with government property.

More 'privacy' stuff...

Radio frequency identification — the same technology used to monitor cattle — is tracking students in the Spring and Santa Fe school districts.

Identification badges for some students in both school districts now include tracking devices that allow campus administrators to keep tabs on students' whereabouts on campus. School leaders say the devices improve security and increase attendance rates.

Yeah. I read about that 'no judge needed' thing after I posted. That GREATLY disturbs me.

Someone can take a disliking to me or someone I know and monitor them till they find something they dislike and potentially illegal, disloyal, or whatever they want to call it and THEN use that to bootstrap a real investigation based on a 'I think'. No proof needed till they have something at sometime that meets the 'reasonable doubt' clause of the Constitution.

We have so many laws and fines that any American is just a traffic stop away from jail. I know many an officer and they have told me that they can pretty much arrest anyone if desired. There are so many laws that you are pretty much guilty of SOMETHING if they wanted to take the time to look. The reason they don't is the time vs reward ratio. They said they are looking for the really bad guys, not the petty ones. They do not want to waste the time on the small stuff.

You know.. I do not like the ACLU. In fact I find myself at odds with them 80 percent of the time.

I hope they wipe the floor with them on this one. I may actually donate to them over this issue.

Want to know the REAL sad part. We have not 'lost' our rights. We gave them up willingly for 'security' and 'convience'. But that is a whole different discussion.

I must have missed that little detail. I doubt it's true though. AFAIK the cops can't just ignore a judges arrest warrant.
