Your combat patrol orders were posted Friday, and it is patrol 2, not 3.:yep:

Legionary74 10-02-10 02:28 PM

If im not mistaken, Patrol 2 is the one where you sink the ships and then proceed for test depth.

Patrol one was where you track down the convoy.

I just got out of the 5th flotilla, and waiting for a response in 2nd

EDIT: Speaking of this, I was waiting for you to tell me what to do...

Legionary74 10-02-10 02:39 PM

Oh, there we go.

Patrol 2 commencing.

Why do I get the atlantic THAT far out by myself :(

Legionary74 10-02-10 02:47 PM

When I was a lowly petty officer, I was stationed at Naval Intelligence Command in Suitland (1981-1984).

One of the treats of the day, if you were into global events, was the daily Morning Naval Intelligence Briefing. It was always attended by the Commander, Naval Intelligence (one of the few "Commodores") but sometimes other flags would be there, if the situation was special. (And yes, anyone who worked in Naval Intelligence and had the right clearance could be there; it was in a huge command room where we worked 24/7, so if you were on watch you were in the audience so to speak).

Sometime in 1983, I believe summer, just about every surface ship of the Soviet Northern Fleet came banging out into the Atlantic. No one knew why, and I tell you there was a lot of freaking out. Over a week, the number of "stars" at the briefing went from one to ten.

And then "poof"... most of the ships just turned back, others scattered to summer exercises. No one ever figured it out.

So when I read Clancy's book a couple of years later, I have to say I really loved that the plot included a mass chase by the Northern Fleet and that no one on the US side could figure out why. That was realism.

Alas, his books have been downhill since then.

I love most of Clancy's books, but yeah, he did go downhill after a while. I got sickened by his inclusion of characters for politically correct reasons. Really turned me off. I get PO'd watching television these days for the same reasons. The more politically correct they makes shows and ads, the more unrealistic they become and thus less enjoyable. I mean, come on! How many left handed bisexual physically challenged multiracial hemales with superpowers are their investigating crimes these days in a tolerant, inclusive and non-judgmental manner while respecting a person's rights to worship or not worship a God or deity of his/her/it's choosing?

Or you could load up an old save, then it'd just be BRB rather than RIP ;)
