What is this weird structure at the stern in the last picture supposed to be? My guess would be that it was attached after the boat went out of operation.

Prop guard maybe?

that would definitely be a prop guard.
it would keep the screws from swinging into the wharf.
also, to keep from sucking in nets and mine cables.
I've seen similar guards on battleships and destroyers.
