Looks awesome, but will there be any other SH games? :hmmm:

Snestorm 09-28-10 06:18 AM

By the time you save for it, it'll be outdated.
I'll pass on this one.

Even with a lottery win I'd still not have it... what is the point? 4x EVGA's GTX480 - I don't know how much fps would increase by, but could you honestly tell the difference between 200 fps and 400? Or more? :nope: Like one poster replied to review (it wasn't even a review!) I'd build one for <4k and spend the rest saving the environment. So my daughter could at least have a bit of power to play SH6 (with a permanent hard-wired brain to Ubi's servers :rotfl2:).

End of rant :yep:

the_tyrant 09-28-10 07:00 AM

why pay that much for a second rate rig anyways?
I have been designing my dream computer, 7000$ gets you duel xeons
32gb memory
duel ssd for system disk(raid 0)
4tbs for games and apps(i would like raid 0 too, but i don't think you can have 2 raids on 1 computer)
1 fire gl for work, and 1 for gaming

Cool. Then you could have super high FPS while looking at photo-realistic crew say the same 2-3 lines every time you bump into them. Meanwhile, there will be no ballast and trim control, and the basic paradigm of operating the boat will be a choice between automagical, or the player doing everything himself.

Oh, and what good is 200 fps when you have a FR of zero because your net connection drops.

;)

After reading the description I get the impression that the box is a ticking time bomb waiting to fail "designed to perform far beyond their specifications".

Whats the big attraction of having an Xbox built in?

Herr-Berbunch 09-28-10 10:05 AM

Just realised it's in Ozzy Dinar (Pesos as Jim would incorrectly say), which is probably about 20 GBP, or 30 USD, eight shekels, half a tanner and a packet of crisps with enough change for the bus home... :haha:

Legionary74 09-28-10 10:07 AM

Or, we can just keep playing SH3
Silent Hunter 3 is best Silent Hunter!

Steamwake was the only one near close. In the very near future Consoles will be the hot gaming platform.

The way I see it they (Console makers) need to make most current game controllers (Flight sticks, Wheels... ) compatable and redo popular pc titles ( SH3, 4, 5, IL2 1946 Racing ect...) in console format and modable with graphics as good if not better than PC.

Pluses+++ Eliminates Pirateing hopefully so lower prices for games.

No more having to build an expensive hiend PC

The only reason I haven't went console is the above reasons.

But you'll have enough for the new equivalent. Technology is all about better and cheaper. (in theory)

Consoles already have piracy, if they were the only gaming platform that would only increase. Hoping for this to lower prices is silly, not to mention that on average console games cost more than pc ones where piracy supposedly runs rampant.
On another note, you can build a capable gaming system for about 500usd if you know what you are buying, that kind of system will last you for about3-5 years unless you expect maxed out graphics all the time.

Meh eventually the ease of use and lack of compatibility issues (games written to known hardware requirements) consoles will dominate the market.

I dont want to say PC gaming is dead but it is on life support.
