this is from a JSDF training ship
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_JtwOU3H9KQM/TJ...4ed8f9fd53.jpg my friend works at this station my poor Japanese skills never allowed me to understand what this station is. do you guys know? |
All those buttons, looks like engine 'management' area to me. Long gone are the days of the greasy rags and spanners in a bucket. Just a simple, clean gas turbine or two in modern boats. :D
|
I'd echo the engine control room comment, the picture of a jet turbine is confusing though, unless it's a boat turbine. Not sure of their particulars.
|
Definately power related.

All gas turbines work the same way so a condensed aviation version would be enough to pitch to the visitors that it is obviously set out for.
Not sure how the pic top left fits in either, it's obviously about engines as the bottom right it mentions Pratt & Whitney TF30 (F111 & F14a), the one above mentions DC10 and Airbus A300 which have General Electrics CF6-50s in common... who knows? :hmmm: |
dude, that is obviously a caterpillar drive
|
And just around the corner is the Flux Capacitor, we're going back... :har:

Right, it's all coming together now. The pictured vessels look like the DDG Kongo - class, which uses four of GE's LM2500 gas turbines which is based on, wait for it, the CF6 as mentioned previously!
Many thanks to Google, Wikipedia, globalsecurity.org, defenseindustrydaily.com for all their unknowing help in this matter :D |
Some kind of energy plant management.
The board with the yellow lines and meters are very similar to those seen in power generation facilityes volt meters, amp meters, frequency meters, bus switching, tie breakers, maintance bypass its all there. The jet engine cut away looks like some kind of training aid. leading me to believe this entire thing may be a mockup. |
