This is it!
Just above Scotland,
Just finished off a fat cargo ship and its still early war (39). I dive to 15m to reload torpedoes and I get a hydrophone contact, I know I should of checked but heat of the moment, I went after it. On the way I reloaded tubes 1-3. I get within 5000m and surface its a warship (no doubt it was sent after me the RAF failed) and not just any warship a A&B warship. He caught me well off guard, I gave the order to dive to PD. Set speed to 1 knot, it was dark and calm, I was like a ghost. I watched his every move, he was zig-zagging meaning he knew I was in the area, but his search lights were looking around meaning he'd lost me. He was closing. My sonar guy still had no clue there was a ship in the area so I pointed it out to him. He was about 1000m away when I made my move, using manual I made a quick check of his bearing and zig-zag pattern and used it to fire a steam right at him. It missed, he'd seen it and moved at the last second and the eel missed by no more than 10m. He now knew we were there, somewhere. *ping*ping*ping*ping* I did a quick, but clever, correction to the eel's course. I then fired tubes 2 and 3 then ordered a crash dive while lowering the periscope. No-where to run now, the waiting game begins. 20m *ping*ping* 30m *ping*ping* 40m *ping*ping* one hits but does not explode, one left. 50m *pi-* "Torpedo impact" "Shes going down" Surface the boat. :DL That one got my heart pumping. I guess the score now is: "Black widow"(U-46) 1 - 0 British navy :salute: Today is a good day |
Yawn.
|
What that really happened just there now. :DL
(Believe it or not I don't get jumped by warships alot) |
Oh, in other threads you say you have played the game since it came out.
And that you play GWX at 100% And that you sink battleships with your flack guns after killing everything in sight with your "eels". And that you escape destroyers by passing through the two sinking halves of flaming merchants. So I just thought an A&B would be in a day's work for you. I was yawning with you. Must be strenuous, all that. |
:DL Yeah but in all that I was the one attacking, other than that it's because it was a more "realistic" career, not a warship hunting one
(Nearly got the hood in that one though hit her with two steams but had to split too many escorts) P.s. Never sunk anything with the flak (except a few planes) |

You know, a bunch of us have played the game for years. I am by no means an expert, but even I can smell bogus ... why don't you give it a rest? |
"why don't you give it a rest?"
Wasn't the who brought it up... so stupid question. "You take out 16 inch guns with flak, then sink the BB with your deck gun." Now, I can see that you're just making that up. Now this is a "Maybe" due to lack of evidence for and against. Now this "debate" is over, so do us all a big favor and just drop it. |

"disabled"
Meaning not destroyed just inactive, when the Revenge starts to take water he cann't fire his guns. "Be careful what you say, it gets difficult to navigate ones own web of lies after awhile." Thanks for that, :DL (for some reason it made me laugh reading that) The only thing making it difficult is the time, I'm either tired or drunk. |
ok, so to get it to start taking on water in the first place, as you so claimed to do so without torpedo, you would have to have penetrated a minimum of 4 inches of armor, or 13 inches for most of it. the 88 doesnt have the ability to do that with HE, but since it was stock you had AP. even then it likely wont penetrate even 4 inches beyond a few hundred meters, and if you had surfaced anywhere within 5k of that thing, the several dozen fast guns would have eaten you within seconds, even beyond that one doesnt have much time. so the ONLY chance to start it taking on water is to hit the minimum armor section of the extreme bow or stern, both of which are extremely easy to do damage control for (which the AI does to some extent) and compartmentalize (which is modeled), so that takes that factor out of it.
how, without any torpedoes as you claimed, make it start taking on water? more discrepancies Quote:

Just let it go you guys, wether he is telling lies or not doesnt matter, if you dont believe him then all you have to do is not say anything. No need to turn this into a pissing contest:shifty: (in the sense of trying to prove that he is lying, not trying to out do him)

I agree
|
I agree too, jeez, give the guy a break, no one is forcing you to read his post's, let alone answer them.
I dread to think what a new comer would think reading post's like this. All these negative waves :zzz::zzz::zzz: To be fair, i thought the first post was a good read and did not expect this level of hysteria. This is after all a sub sim, not real life, i know this will come as a shock to some people but its true, its not real. |
I like sinking Warships
Warships need to be sunk: I don't get any pleasure in sinking Merchants..
I suspect the early Sub Captains felt that way too. (but I never mess using guns to sink Battleships - that geos counter to the whole exercise - like playing Halo - as a TBS... --------------------------------------------------- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J90KhauH7Pc |
