[needed] Unpoto transport barge

We will need an Unpoto transport barge 3d model to be able to make suplly trips in our IJN submarines.

My aim would be to add it to the raft one usually sees casting off in the suplly mission.

does anyone have that model in stock ?

from combinedfleet.com :
I-38
Quote:

8 May 1943:
Departs Kure for Osako with an "Unpoto" gun sled* mounted on her afterdeck. The I-38 is the first submarine in the IJN to be fitted with this new weapons carrier. Departs Osako for Saeki.

They had twin pontoons and a deck, torpedo engines, weighted 10 tons and could carry 17 tons with usually an artillery piece lashed on deck.

Is the the collapsable landing craft with 2 fish for motors? It looked very much like the Type A LC we have. It would be easy to alter that to at least get something close. Remove the screw, add the back of a couple fish to it... scale it as required.

do you have any picture ? I only have a sketch in I-Boat Captain..

there's also the unkato though I don't know how to implement that one..

I-Boat Captain, page 139
"The unpoto was already working successfully when the unkato was introduced. This was truly a remarkable experiment. The unkato was a cylinder 136 feet long with cone-shaped ends. It was 16 feet in diameter. Both the cones were ballast tanks and there was a third ballast tank in the unkato's center. These three compartments were separated from the long cargo space, which had a capacity of 377 tons of food, ammunition and medicines. WIth a strong hull structure that permitted submerging to depths of 400', the unkato was adjusted after loading so that it had slightly negative buoyancy, then it would be towed out in the middle of Simpson Harbor and secured by a long tow line to the stern of a submarine. Once the submarine cleared Rabaul, it would cruise along the northern coast of New Britain to the point where submerged run was to begin. When the submarine dived, the unkato would submerge with it. On arrival off New Guinea, the submarine would surface and release the unkato, which was then towed to the beach by men from the shore."

Oh, that is entirely different than the folding landing craft. Nevermind then. Looks like you need to build that like a kaiten.

Need to set scanner higher later for better scan...

It's 21.44m overall 4.34 m beam, has a draught of 1.32 m

You want to be able to tow it then release it when you reach somewhere?

I wonder what would happen if another node was placed at the back of the Sub.
Then give it a damage model with a low setting.
Attach the towable object to that node.
When you reach the drop off?
You shoot the node to destroy it.
The object should float off then.

In a rough theory that is.
:hmmm:

I've towed objects before but that is a clever way to unhook them. Of course I would end up shooting a hole in the pressure hull or the barge and sink the supplies. :har:

Can't you set it to be the same unit type as the commando boat, then only refer to it for that mission?

this I thought of for the Unpoto :

make a sub with it lashed on deck like some subs have kaitens now

make the unpoto model and replace the dinghy with it

then you can make a suplly run and have the unpoto sail away

but how do you then make the one on deck disappear ?

also : if you make a damage model for it like I did for the kaiten, it can be destroyed enroute... and damage your sub even more..
