I got a good laugh out of this. But you know... thinking back... it's true. I and alot of people I knew (despite it being another time, and another place), had a pretty good dip habit. I quit when i got out, but while I was in, I had a dip ring in the front left pocket of my BDU pants. Maybe I thought I was cool, or maybe it was all the heavy equpiment I was around or operating. *shrug* But.... You can't always smoke, but you can almost always dip or chew, and nicotine calms the nerves. That solider has a point. I wonder where i can mail a log of Skoal, Kodiak, or Copenhagen. (or Caugh n gaggin as it was sometimes called). Good thing i don't dip now though. :shifty: But when your deployed overseas? Phhht nobody cares about something that might kill you 20 to 50 years later with so many things that can jack you up in the here and now. |

Some like malboro lights, others like reds. *shrug* Of course there's chewing tabacco, which is different from snuff/dip. Chewing tabacco is the full leaves. Comes in a pouch, not a can. You can get a pretty good ball of chew going with it. Also makes you "juice" more too. Dip doesn't make you juice so much. At my worst, when i was off duty, id have a wad of redman (chewing tabacco) in one cheek, a beer in one hand, and a coffin nail in the other. Spit, drink, drag. In that order. :haha: I guess i was determined to **** myself up as best as i could with what was legal. :88) |

I recall reading about Hog pilots back in the Gulf war whose enterprising families managed to circumvent the alcohol ban in Saudi Arabia by filling Scotch envelopes (there's a pun in here I know it) with liquor and then putting another bag inside so that there was a layer of liquor between the envelope and the gift. The first pilot was so frustrated that his wife/friend had just sent him some random little nothing of a gift that he stabbed the envelope...and then it was a case of "No-one move!" :haha:
Others tried to make their own stills, which often resulted in yeast inspired explosions. :haha: The improvisation within the armed forces is top notch. :yeah: |
