WoWs Best all time raiding guild is from Finland

I put pvp aside and decided to have a go at raiding in WoW doing ICC pugs and even though i use to loath the pve side of WoW, i'm seriously starting to enjoy it this time round, though 4hrs in one raid time flys before you know it. I thought before Cata expansion comes out i better at least say Ive done ICC (Icecrown Citadel).

In vent I asked so whos the best raiding guild out there, oh they're Paragon those guys are pro what takes us nubs more than a few weeks to finish a raid takes paragon one night. Oh so what part of America are they from? They aren't Americans they Finnish!

So Dowly if you ever decide to try WoW at least you got a chance to be in the top guild they only accept players from Finland :)

If anyone's interest Paragon History:

Paragon was formed by the core members of Knockout (Twisting Nether) and Sauna (Stormreaver) for Wrath of the Lich King in August 2008. But our roots go much deeper than those two guilds. Some of our members have been playing together since before World of Warcraft and have raided together in every raid instance there has been. After leveling up in WotLK, and getting most of the realm first leveling achievements of the full populated realm, we managed to get world 14th 3 drake 10 man Sartharion achievement which was the hardest encounter in the game at the time. We played on Stormscale but the lag was so horrible we had to take a free migrate to Lightning's Blade before Ulduar.

In Ulduar all of our hard mode kills were in top 15 with 4 top 3 kills. At some point before killing Algalon 25 we recruited the 8 Finnish core members of Underground Kosmonavts (Ravencrest). They had achieved world second 10 man Algalon but they were Alliance and faction change wasn't available yet. After our new members had leveled up and been geared we started working on the hardest encounter in the game so far: Alone in the Darkness 25. Ulduar had been out for almost 4 months at this point but this insanely hard encounter had not been completed. Within only days after we started trying it we managed to kill Yogg'Saron without any watchers helping and thus achieved Alone in the Darkness 25 as the second guild in the world.

When Trial of the Grand Crusader's hard modes were unlocked we quickly killed the first three hard mode bosses without wipes. On Twin Val'Kyrs we wiped for four times but managed to get the world second kill. Then came the real challenge of the instance, the last boss: Anub'Arak 25 heroic. With the try limits implemented by Blizzard for ToGC and the insane difficulty of Anub'Arak ment that only the best of the best could achieve a kill of Anub'Arak during the first week. Of course we managed to do it after wiping 42 times with only 4 tries remaining and achieved our first World First! In the next reset we also managed to clear the instance with only 5 wipes and achieved the world first Tribute to Mad Skill.

In Icecrown Citadel 25-man normal mode we got the world first Lich King kill (where the encounter was working as intended). Our Professor Putricide normal world first is also worth mentioning as many other guilds believed the encounter was bugged and didn't attempt it as they were afraid of wasting attempts. We also managed to get the world first 10-man heroic Lich King kill just a few hours after the servers got up after the 5% zone buff went live. In 25-man heroic Icecrown Citadel we got Europe first kills from 8 first bosses and world first kills from wing end bosses: Blood-Queen Lana'thel, Sindragosa and Professor Putricide. We achieved the world first 25-man heroic Lich King kill 26.3.2010. 28.7.2010 we finished the raids of Wrath of the Lich King by killing the Lich King hard mode with 0% zone buff.

Recruitment
Paragon is a full Finnish guild so this part will be in Finnish. If you can't understand the following text, you do NOT have any chance of joining Paragon. lol

Killan raidiajoista:
- Raidaamme normaalisti Ke/To/Su/Ma/Ti 19-24, esim. Ennen LK25HC killiä raidasimme Ke/To/Su/Ma 19-24.
- Uuden contentin ilmestyessä raidiajat muuttuvat radikaalisti ja silloin pitäisi pystyä raidaamaan pari ensimmäistä päivää siitä hetkestä kun servut tulevat pystyyn johonkin 01-03 asti, riippuen miten paljon on raidattavaa.
- Farm statuksella oleva content menee yleensä parissa päivässä, esim. tällä hetkellä raidaamme 2-3h per viikko.

Mitä sinulta vaaditaan?
- Aktiivisuus raideilla 95-100%.
- Olet ollut kiltasi LK10HC killillä mukana (ennen 15% buffia), tai hyvä syy mikset mahtunut setuppiin.
- Olet clearannut ICC25HC:n 11/12 ennen 10% buffia.
- Olet kiltasi parhaita pelaajia ja haluat nostaa rimaa korkeammalle.
- Osallistut aktiivisesti ventrilokeskusteluun raideissa.
- Mahdollisuus raidata uuden contentin julkaisuissa servujen aukeamisesta lähtien.

You know, if I ever start playing WoW that means I've snapped off my balls, have started wearing pink dresses and call myself Daisy.

That aside, it's interesting how many good clans/squads/guilds or just invidual players come from Finland give how small population we have.

I believe Team Logitech was pretty high up on old Counter-Strike (don't know if they ever moved to CSS, prolly), WWIIOL has Team Lagus on axis side which is very highly organised, there's few invidual players who are top ranked especially in airwar. And the list goes on.

See, I told we are awesome. :O:

:haha:

But teebagging is fun! Besides how the hell did you know i wear pink dresses when playing wow!

:D

Anyways it surprised me like you said from a small population. Well done Paragon. Because they are tops they most likely get sponsered by Blizzard as well, free gametime and all the rest of the perks of the game.

I don't really know much about WoW, but it does not suprise me that a number of good online clans are based in Finland. What you are seeing is likely a side effect of what is arguably the best public school system in the world. Online gaming pulls heavily from the 14-24 demographic, and these kids can utilize either hemisphere, thinking logically and creatively as needed. They are fantastic problem solvers and can organize very quickly. Look at Dowly, here. If his profile didn't say he was from Finland, you'd think he was from an English-speaking nation, as he is so fluent that he can even engage in nuanced colloquialism with the ease of any kid from the eastern USA, and he's young.

Funny you should say that, there was a big debate here on our education as since changes happened around 2002 its been pretty much a mess ever since, pupils mainly males are failing. One official said New Zealand needs to follow in the footsteps of Finlands education system. Even though the debate was between us parents and officials on ministry forum you could hear a pin drop. Silence (well everyone stopped typing for a few moments) :) It was like what? Finland? I'm sure every one in that debate was googling 'Finland eduction' right at that moment I know I was.

Of course then we had all the soft-tees screaming blue murder, but what i found is they were (dont know if still are) rated 1st in 2004 for education with South Korea & Canada at 2nd and 3rd. Their education policies seem ideal and could easily work for any nation willing to take it on. But Political Correctness tree hugging retards always get in the way.

I would agree with your post except the last sentence. Right wing guys are usually not that eager to adopt to a foreign system either.;)
BTW our education system is also pretty much screwed up...:-?

0% buff!!. Our pug group last night had 30% buff and we still failed after 4 wipes (retries), So i made an excuse that I was needed by some guildies and had to go guys good luck! :har:

Another thing why is it that female players think they know how to play WoW, everytime they in vent they try to tell us how to do it Im not saying female players are dumb in this game some are damn good players one who i run with in BG's plays a warrior and creams the nubs, but the ones usually from pugs are downright useless lol. Guess who were the first to die, the female players. Where were ya we wiped! Oh sorry guys i had to check up on baby. Then they try to tell us where we go wrong...So annoying.
