How insert a photo inside the game ?
 
Hi mates,

For more immersion when playing, I need to know how to insert an image in the Kaleun room. He must have a photo of his wife or girlfriend and I want to do the same thing.

I wish I could insert a photo in one of these three locations:

Is this possible and if so, how can I do.

is there an accessible and modifiable skin for the interior rooms? if so, i dont see why not. hopefully someone with experience with this will know.

I've seen mods where pinup girls and the like are scattered throughout the boat. Your idea sounds possible, but I cannot recall the exact mod which accomplishes this.

Most of those were by "TikiGod" - run a search on his mods

From his Readme file:

"To install select a numbered folder and place the druck_radio_7.tga file into your "SilentHunterIII\data\Textures\TNormal\tex" folder, load the game, and enjoy your women." This is the one for the radio room.

There is a mod that puts a picture on the desktop but, you really can't see it very well. I think it might be Flakmonkey's interior mod for the type VII.

Grab one of the tools that can open .dat files and export textures, then go around the .dat files until you find the right .tga (IIRC, they are all .tga's), export and edit it, then put it into data/textures/tnormal/tex

Sorry, can't give you the exact tool nor the location of the TGA you need, don't have SHIII installed on my PC atm.

I can't open DAT files with Grab(is it "MGrab" ?).
And strangelly, no one soft to open a DAT files on the web !

This is another program to use, which is only for extracting textures from .DAT files:

Your looking to open the NSS_Uboat7_RR.dat located in the Interior folder.
The areas you point out use 2 tga files.
The book on the door of the cabinet uses
int_radio.tga

The other areas use that plus
druck_radio.tga


Extract those and change the photos you'll see and place in the tex folder
as The Weasel, I mean, The Ferret said.

Now the game is most true.

But I made this change in the NSS_Uboat9_CR.dat because in the 2 others I have not found the place I want(indicated by the yellow arrow).
I gonna try in the druck_radio.tga but how to know where is the right place to paste the pictures on the wall ?

PS: the file changed(directly inside SH3 after back up, is named: int_radio_9.tga ).
