Built a new computer, transfer??
Is it possible to transfer my Patrol?saved games? Just built a new computer and want to see if I load all my same mods (GWX3 commander and so on)
will I be able to keep my same patrol going? THANKS |
Install SH3 (and patch 1.4b and no DVD files if necessary), don't start the game - and move complete SH3 root folder to somewhere else. Copy your old SH3 root folder into correct location and copy your SH3 folder in My Documents accordingly. Start your game and enjoy.

Kinda depends - did you do a good backup of the old computer? All of your persona files are in your "My Docs" folder - standard path thus:
C:\Documents and Settings\Gamer\My Documents\SH3\data\cfg\Careers\Wolfgang Eickstedt So look for that folder in your backups (SH3) and copy it and all of its subfolders to your new "My Docs" folder in your new computer and voila! |
Your saved career is in the folder SH3 (unless you changed it using MultiSH3) under my documents.
Copy and paste that folder to your new rig and you should be ok. |
You should be able to as long as you load your mods back into the sim in the same order. Just copy the SH3 and Personnel Files from C:\My Documents(if XP or older OS) to your new computer in C:\Users\your name\Documents.(Vista or Win 7)

Another case of me being a day late and a dollar short

Thinking about it - there may occur some trouble with SH3 Commander. First roll back the files if necessary and then copy old root folder to new location. Install SH3 Commander and check your career to be visible.

Thanks all!! After thinking about it, I think I'm going to start a new career anyway, lol, my crew has been lazy and sleeps all the time, I need a new crew and boat..
BTW I have Win7 32bit, I assume this will work on win7? |

May I ask why you guy chose 32 bit W7 when 64 bit was available? I just got a new notebook and went with 64 bit; SH3 runs great under this OS for me.
|
Well, Its not really a "NEW BUILD" its actually from some spare parts I had laying around, its not a bad computer with a 9600GT card and a duel CPU, but its only got 2 gigs of ram and I don't think I am going to add any more, atleast with the computer..
That said, there really inst any point going 64bit with only 2 gigs and from what I read it actually eats more ram going 64bit.. So I just did the 32bit? |
