Shortcut to stations?
 
Hello,

Can you cycle between stations in SH5? I know you can have the Captain "walk" the whole ship but I still don't know if you can just press a key and go straight to the station you want just like in SH4.

Also how's SH5 doing? I mean lots of people are complaining about the DRM stuff but I am more interested if the game has become very very playable and bug free.

Yes. That's what I was afraid of. I'm very well intimidated by the numbers of mods and enhancements and I'm still too green on this game. I have SH4 but still checking out the mods carefully. I was just curious if it was worth already switching to SH5 although you can only play as a German Capt. instead of choosing the US as well.

In stock SH5 you can not teleport to different stations, you have to walk there. Which i like doing (seems more realistic).

BUT TheDarkWraith has released a terrific mod "NewUIs_TDC_4_1_0_TheDarkWraith" Which allows you to teleport to stations and brings back many of the officer options. Plus many other great additions.

This is a must have mod. makes the game as playable as SH3/SH4.

I have never had any problems with the DRM. some have but as a whole its not to bad. I would prefer it wasnt there but as i said i have not had any problems connecting to Ubisoft servers.


Before the patch the game was broken and the bugs were gamebraking.
Most of the bugs were fixed in the 1.2 patch. And the bugs that are still there arn't game brakers.

This game will only get better as the people modding it learn how to solve the few problems left.

The main problems for me are :-

1.Lack of variaty of merchant ships..... Modders are unable to import ships correctly ATM. hopefully this will soon be overcome.
2.No kesmarine map grid..... Cant believe it doesnt have this. hope someone will put this in soon.
3.The RPG style crew management and magic skills. I just dont like it.

So as you can see the problems are minor now.

This game is as playable as sh3/SH4, but with better graphics.

I'll take a look on that mod. The lack of the kesmarine map grid is ultra- unrealistic.

You mentioned that you like to keep walking through the stations but what about when you are really in a hurry with patrols chasing you? Do you still have enough time? Tried that on SH5 I was so frustrated with the camera (SH5 1.0...no patch back then).:damn:

I know the mod community enhances and fixes the game but to choose which mod to install without conflicting with others is the main concern. For example, in SH4 I liked the "Real Navigation" mod but it would conflict with some others which changed the navigation chart.

TheDarkWraiths UI, give you back the officer bar (to issue orders).
I spend most of my time in the cammand room, the only places i need to get to in a hurry are the hydrophones and attackscope.
How would a real captain on a uboat have time to get to those stations? teleport? lol.... I like to play as if i was there... My preference.

No i dont find myself unable to get to the stations in time..... but TDW has added the option to teleport. so its a none issue now (if you dont like having to walk).

Yes ATM its a bit of a mod soup. Trial and error. Looking at what others have installed and reading threads to figgure out whats compatable. Until a supermod comes along. but that wont happen for awhile yet.

Hi J,

sorry for the delayed response. Been offline.

Anyway, I'll check what I can do but I'll probably switch back to SH4, at least I can play it on my laptop without DRM in a place without net. Hope SH6 comes soon.
