GT5 Subsim Tournament
I've been tossing this idea around my head for a little bit. What would those who are getting GT5 think of a Subsim GT5 Tournament? With some sort of reward(probably a trophy to display in their signature :haha:)
It would probably be scheduled for the month of December or January giving people two to three months to get the game after it's been released. As the multiplayer has a limit of 16 people per race, we'd need at least 10 members to make this interesting. And all cars must belong to the same class. My idea is that there will be 5-10 races on varying courses. Each race will net you a point value. Coming in First will net you 15 points, 2nd 10 points, 3rd 5 points, 4th-7th2 points, and everything after that 1 point. Whoever has the most points after the final race will win. I'm also tossing around a possible system for those who can't make a certain race for whatever reason. I'm thinking you'll get 1/4 the points from your last race. So for example, if you come in first in one race, but have to skip the next race for whatever reason, you'll get 3 points. (All non whole numbers are rounded down.) Would anyone be interested? :hmmm: Potential Roster: Spike88 ajrimmer42 Danlisa Mr. Chris Lionclaw(If he get's a Ps3) Darkside(If he has the funds :haha:) Chad(Possibly) |
Sounds fun, what tracks are planned to be raced on? :DL
Nurburgring Nordschleife? :D A bit of a favourite of mine, probably have 100+ laps on that one from different racing sims, really rewarding track to drive on the limit without crashing. Need a PS3 first though, have to keep a look out for one later in the year. |
Cool, count me in :D
EDIT: a) lol @ rough night at Langtrees Brothel b) Dragon Age is my most played game all of a sudden! wtf? lol |
Hope my funds are up for it............
I just bought myself a CZ452 American, for some bunny action. :D |

If need be I'll start the Tournament January/February so those without PS3's can get them during christmas. Depending on when we start will most likely determine which class we use. Quote:
Dragon Age is so awesome that it bypasses all other games? :hmmm: (Been Meaning to get it, but my PC is about half way between required and recommended specs, and I hear the Ps3 version has issues) If the game does have a Livery maker, maybe one of the prizes for everyone who enters will be a custom subsim livery. |
Some news:
The game will have an install file of around 10 gigs. http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo...-10gb-in-size/ And Some footage/Previews: http://www.gtplanet.net/insidesimrac...erage-preview/ http://www.gtplanet.net/nascar-gamep...com-2010-demo/ http://www.gtplanet.net/gt5-gameplay...e-nurburgring/ |
I like the idea, especially the time allotted for learning GT5. I can assure you that GT5 is a completely different beast from Prologue and vastly different from the GT Academy Beta release.;) You're going to need the time.:haha:
How are you going to work around time zones? So far you have possible entries from the US, Sweden, Aus and (perhaps UK) ;) Admin nightmare. Another idea to mull over (given GT5s screen capture, youtube uploading and possible ghost sharing) would be to decide on a track, decide on a car (including upgrades etc), tyre types etc......and then let everyone post their fastest race times racing against the AI. That's assuming that getting everyone together for an online 16 player race proves difficult. *Ahem, requires honor system* ....and OMG 10GBs install :o largest console install in history by at least 4/5gb. At least I have the signature goodies to keep me busy while that's installing. |

I need to look at everyone time zones to try and formulate a good time. If anything I think I might split it into two races for each track, you can only race in one of the two. To settle any ties, whoever ties at the end of the tournament will have a race at a convenient time to determine the true winner. For those of you who are interested please post your countries and time zone. Edit: Also I believe MGS4 has the largest install, it just makes up for the fact that it installs per chapter, and deletes old install information. |

Put me down for the tourny. UK: availability 8 to 11pm GMT weekdays (certain Tues & Thurs evenings may be required for other testing commitments, but I'll know that nearer the time), weekends at anytime (sensible GMT times) with prior arrangement (I'll get the wife and baby to go out :DL) Remind me nearer the time though. |

If we're plannin this on the PS3, I'll consider it.
Just don't want to embarrass myself too much :DL |

I think most events will take place on a Saturday as this is the easiest day to plan around. That is a Saturday EST(which is Sunday for some people. :haha:) Quote:
I'm going to look at the time zones now and try and formulate the best for everyone. Although I do have an idea on how we can set this up if we can't all get on at the same time. |
If scheduling a true 16 car race for this tournament becomes too much of an issue, I came up with an idea that might possibly work.(While on man's thinking throne :O:)
We would break the race into your standard tournament ladder. Each race will be a broken into a 1vs1 race. The two people in the race will be responsible for setting up the perfect time for them to race. They'll have from Friday to 10PM Sunday EST to conduct the race, and determine a winner. This will make 8 1vs1 races in the first tier. Winners move onto Tier 2 section A, Losers Move onto tier 2 Section B. Tier 2 will consist of 4 1vs1 races in both A and B. If you lose in Tier 2, you'll be eliminated. Winners in Tier2A go onto Tier3A, and the same goes for the B side. Tier 3 will be 2 1vs1 races, and Tier 4 will be 1vs1 race. The winners from Tier4A and Tier4B will move onto the final race, with whoever wins, winning the tournament. Here's an example Assuming that the player on the left in every race wins. It was made with construction paper, a marker, a red pen, and a whole lotta love. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...ou88/photo.jpg But yeah, this is just an idea if it proves impossible to get 16 person races due to time constraints. |
looks good to me :yep:

Count me in have got the collectors edition on pre order.
Baggsy i come last. I suck at racing games but just love playing. Am even thinking of getting a racing wheel to play the game with. An idea of running the Championship. If you get 10 people then you could run say 10 races spread out over a few weeks, on a different course each race. You could even go so far to have a full blown qualifying session. As for point scoring you could run it like they do in F1 ie 25 points for 1st place going down to 1 point for 10th. At the end of the 10 races the top 4 or 6 players then race off in a final 4 races. Whoever the top two people are after that they race off 1v1 to see who is Subsims finest. |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:12 PM. |
