Not Dead Yet? NASA Still Working on Rockets Obama Sidelined

NASA moves forward with work on its new Orion space capsule and Ares rockets — both designed to take astronauts to the moon — despite their ambiguous status as lawmakers discuss the agency's 2011 budget.

A trans-lunar spacecraft being relegated to an LEO Escape Pod, looks like we got a Billion $ Soyuz. But if it keep progress going on Orion I'm all for it, I just hope the next administration puts some funding back in to NASA. Currently Obama lost my next vote when he canceled the new Lunar Mission for Orion.

BTW when you go though you pocket change tonight, look at that penny there. Think about 1/2 of that. For every tax dollar you give to Washington that 1/2 of a cent goes to NASA. That 1/2 of a cent gives us the Shuttle, the ISS, The Hubble, Space Camp, Astronaut visits to schools, environmental research, Mars rovers, Probes the gas giants and Pluto, plus dozens of other programs. Would you miss another 1/2 of a penny at the end of the day?

Total BS. NASA is supposed to reach out to our Muslim friends.

Anything else is a waste of our money.

Things are simple sometimes.

Those rockets are not for the astronauts. They plan to defect!

Stop them at once!!!

By law they are supposed to work all items in the current budget. It has just gone into slow mode to reduce risk.

Ares is toast. Some may think some senator will swoop in and save the day. But that only works once because it is an election year issue. Next year Ares budget would be cut faster than a red hot sharp sword through a stick of butter.
