using new version of JSGME, cannot get mods to load
I just installed SH IV 1.5 again, downloaded TMO, the correct version of RSRD, the 3D TDC and Radar mod, and version 2.5 of JSGME. I installed everything according to the instructions, I think, but SH IV just loads the stock version.
JSGME is pointed to [C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS]. The MODS are in this order: TMO RSRD for TMO 3D TDC and Radar I had SH IV 1.5, TMO, and JSGME loaded before, and it worked fine. I'm doing something wrong I'm sure, but I'm not seeing it. :damn: I just checked the profile, here's a copy of what shows n notepad: Generic Mod Enabler - v2.5.0.150 [C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS] TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2 RSRDC_TMO_V502 3D TDC and Radar Range Unit v1.02 |
Do you actually have a copy of JSGME inside your SH4 folder? It will not work from the desktop.
|
Yes, I do. There is the icon of the installed JSGME program, the big yellow "G". There is also the text file that has the license agreement, and the config file that has this:
[MODS FOLDER] Name=MODS [JSGME DETAILS] FullPath=C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\JSGME.exe [FORM SIZE] Main Height=517 Main Left=178 Main Top=126 Main Width=668 Main WindowState=0 and then in the MODS folder I have a config file with this: [MODS] TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2=1 RSRDC_TMO_V502=2 3D TDC and Radar Range Unit v1.02=3 and a text file containing the activated MODS list: Generic Mod Enabler - v2.5.0.150 [C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS] TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2 RSRDC_TMO_V502 3D TDC and Radar Range Unit v1.02 All of that is actually inside this file: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific Thank you for the reply. |
It's just funny that I'm having this trouble. When I had everything installed on a computer with Windows 2K Pro, it worked great. Of course, that was a previous version of JSGME.
Now I have Windows XP Pro on the same computer, with new hard drives, and I cannot get it to work. I've been fooling with it off and on for two months, with no success. I've completely uninstalled SH IV at least twice. I've completely uninstalled JSGME at least a dozen times, and gotten every bit of it out. Last night, I did another complete fresh install of SH IV, then downloaded fresh versions of JSGME, TMO, RSRD, and the 3D TDC and Radar mods. Tonight I installed JSGME, unzipped the mods with 7Zip, then had JSGME import them, then enabled them in what I thought was the proper order. But when I go to "run SH IV", I get the plain stock game, no mods at all. |
why not load up an earlier version of jsgme ? I play on xp pro no problems...

Perhaps double mod-folders (as covered in the User Guide)?
|
I have only one MODS folder. Oddly enough, I have TMO, RSRD, and 3D TDC folders both inside and outside the MODS folder. So, I have a folder for each mod inside the MODS folder, and a folder for each mod outside the MODS folder. The folders for each mod are the same size, whether they are inside the MODS folder, or outside the MODS folder.

Sometimes depending on the program used and the way you unzip a file you end up with it being put into another folder. Check your extracted MODS. For example if you open the TMO folder you should see a folder called "Data". If you see another TMO folder you have the double folder problem he is talking about in his User Guide. Your mods should read: Tmo Data Folders and files. If it is Tmo Tmo Data Folders and files then you need to get them out of the first folder or they will not enable. Peabody |
Okay, my MODS folder looks exactly like I posted it, in my previous replies.
Now, if I open my MODS folder, and click on the individual mods, I get these addresses: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2 C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\RSRDC_TMO_V502 C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\3D TDC and Radar Range Unit v1.02 Now, if I click on the individual folders for the mods inside my MODS folder, I get these addresses: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2\TriggerMaru_Ov erhaul_2 Inside that folder I have two folders, "data" and "documentation". C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\RSRDC_TMO_V502\RSRDC_TMO_V502 Inside that folder, I have two folders, "data" and "support". C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\3D TDC and Radar Range Unit v1.02\3D TDC and Radar Range Unit v1.02 Inside that folder, I have one folder, "support". Now, am I supposed to have those mod folders for each mod outside the MODS folder, in the main SH IV folder? |

as previously described you have double folders in your mods. note the ones i highlighted and move them to your desktop then open each one and take the "inner" or actual mod folder and move that folder into jsgme then everything will work  Now, when you click on the individual folders for the mods inside the MODS folder, you should get these addresses: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\TriggerMaru_Overhaul_2 Inside that folder you have two folders, "data" and "documentation". C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\RSRDC_TMO_V502 Inside that folder, you have two folders, "data" and "support". C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\MODS\3D TDC and Radar Range Unit v1.02 Inside that folder, you have two folders, "data" and "support". |

SH4 THIS IS THE WRONG WAY |
Here is what I did after my last post, before anyone replied. I went to JSGME and disabled my mods. Then I went to the MODS folder and deleted all three mods that were in it. Went back to JSGME and made sure they were gone. Went back to my SH IV folder, and moved the three mods folders that were outside the MODS folder into the MODS folder. Then I opened JSGME again, and enabled all three mods, in the correct order again, TMO, then RSRD, then 3D TDC. I have not played yet, but I ran SH IV. It showed TMO as active, I checked the quick missions, and I have missions named after boats that are described in historical context, dates, locations, and all.
So I think I've solved the problem, I'll try to play for a while and then report. One thing I did notice. On the old hard drives with Windows 2K Pro and an older version of JSGME, when I opened JSGME the first time, it found all of the available mods by itself. This time, with Windows XP Pro, and the latest version of JSGME, I had to import all three mods to JSGME, every time I tried to use JSGME and the mods. Thank you all for your help. |
I finally had a chance to actually play a single mission. It appears that everything is working properly. Well, except for my torpedo shooting skills.
