No radar despite installing it prior departure
 

Perhaps I missed something but after getting a promotion and a new sub (it's Apr 43) I left port and discovered much to my dismay that the surface search radar (SJ) that I had in my old sub was gone:timeout:. After punching a bulkhead I soldiered (or rather sailored) on with the mission without it.:shifty:

After completing this, rather successful, patrol (4 merchants and one aircraft), I ended my patrol. I promoted some of the crew, commended others and then deliberately ensured I selected the SJ radar and then embarked on my next patrol.:up:

Once my sub appeared I was on the bridge and looking up noticed there was no SJ radar dish rotating etc. I go to the radar station and sure enough, it doesn't work.:damn:

Is there a workaround for this?

When you upgrade to a new sub, it's new from the ground up. Anything that you earned through renown on the old sub is gone and has to be purchased, uh, I mean, earned again. Also, when you do select new radar, always save the game right after you gear-up. At least that's what I do. I've switched between a number of mods over the past year so I'm not sure which ones are, or aren't affected by this but I've had the same thing happen to me in the past. I've also, on occasion, closed out, then then restarted the game and noticed tools, weapons or personnel that were not previously available to me.

Nope, didn't work. I was in the 'office' and went to the submarine crew/maintenance page. The SJ radar is indicated as being on my boat. To double check I moved SJ radar from supply and onto the boat....again. Curiously the SJ and SD are 0 renown.

I saved using the 'bookcase' in the office then loaded the mission. The radar is not there (i.e. it doesn't function).

My renown indicated 4300+ so I don't think that's the problem. As I mentioned, the SJ radar is shown in the sub preparation screen as being on the boat.

Is there a data (i.e. text) file I can manipulate to 'tell' the game that it's there or am I screwed to going through the war without surface search radar????:cry:

The workaround is actually to fix the radar when it gets broken after a conning tower refit, but I believe the principle is the same.
