in porpoise and getting aircraft radar warnings but i don't have radar
 

At least i don't think i have radar, year is 1942 early and the radar won't turn on even from the toolbar. But I was getting aircraft warning from radar station.

Everything is as it should be. You have SD radar on your boat which explains the aircraft detection. Also the on/off buttons for the radar are for the SJ radar set, SD is always on when the antenna is above the water.

So I always have sd radar to detect aircraft. but not the sj radar? I'm guessing i don't have it cuz it won't turn on, even from the toolbar.

Stock radar IS the Aircraft warning radar until you earn more renown and the succesful missions

If you started your career at the beginning of the war that's right.
SJ Radar doesn't become available until Summer of '42 (June or July I think)

Keep in mind that not all boats start out with SD radar by default in late 41, some get it much later on.

The air search radar can be raised above water, which makes it even more useful. You can use jimimadrid's menu editor to install a menu button for this. you can assign a keyboard key with his keyboard utility.
