...compared to the people who posts comments on news articles at Yahoo. As you may already know, 15 people were killed today at a music festival in Duisburg, Germany when a mass panic broke out and people ended up getting trampled. So how do common folk react to this news? Keep in mind these people are talking about the deaths of some German hippies at an outdoor musical festival.

Now I just wanna punch every person I walk by in their face and shout obscenities at them until they start sobbing.

This is the ugly side of the internet. I can almost guarantee you that these people wouldn't have the balls to say that in front of the families affected. Sometimes anonymousness on the internet can bring out the worst in people simply because they fear no reprisal.:nope:

Reminds me of Penny Arcade's old greater theory of internet <censored>. Talk about a pretty valid theory.

It's the same thing that makes people turn ugly when they get inside their cars.

I feel that the Internets Tubes are the same way. The anonymity allows people's true personality to come out. Many people are stupid *******s.

I am sure that there are Psyc and Social Scientists already studying how this unique form of communication affects people's social judgment.

This is one of the reasons, I would like the anonymity of the Internet to go away. The social experiment has gone on long enough to proof the hypothesis.

Like those women on the cops shows that refuse to get out of their cars locking all of the doors and screaming obscene words.

Plus don't forget the birds of a feather problem

Plus to denounce what they refer to as druggie hippy homo's is a way to prove to everyone that they don't lean that way looking for approval from the other birds.

They also show they do not have any knowledge on the subject. In some of the posted comments the victims are called "Nazis", in some others "Hippies". WTH?!:doh: Isn't that pretty much the opposite of each other?


Also, "Hippies"? Are they serious? From what I read about it, the festival doesn't have much, if anything at all, to do with hippies.
It's a techno/dance festival. If there's any subculture that doesn't stem from the Hippies, it's those guys.
If there's any successor of the Hippie movement, I'd say it's Metalheads. Don't dare to call me a Hippie, but Metal does undeniably have its roots in Psychedelic Rock (besides Blues Rock). (And we've inherited much more from Hippies than just their music)

Funny thing about trolls... there is one living in an adjacent room upstairs from us. Sometimes it's not just the internet that gives them the separation they need -- sometimes it's just a wall or a door. Pretty much the same kind of personality up there in that room as in the comments in the first post. :yep:

I know it can be difficult but simply ignoring the sad bastids is probably the best thing to do.

About the level of discorse one expects at Yahoo News.

Thats why I tend to not pay too much attention to the comments section of any news outlet.

The assumed anonimity of the interwebs is an astounding study in human behaviour.

By the way I missed this news story somehow Ill go look for it but wonder what caused the panic.

Thats some poor planing right there. I am really supprised they let them assemble in that kind of situation.

But the OP was just venting not really discussing the topic so .. I will just back out of the thread now.

I was always surprised by the civilized level of posters at subsim. That's why I even registered. The sad thing is I am surprised by the civilized level at this forum, and not at the un-civilized levels at other forums. Good show everyone :yeah:
