How could you lose that many good sailors? Did you leave a hatch open when you submerged?

Ha end of route problem

What you ran into, and it is rare, is a group reaching the end of its assigned path (waypoints).

In the mission editor, when creating a group, you designate a path of waypoints for it to move along. One option is to have it repeat the path, another is for it to delete at the last waypoint.

This was done, probably to avoid waste of memory. Groups have a timeframe to appear, sail, and then go away. It takes too much RAM to keep the whole campaign active all the time.

If nothing else, I hope you've realized that taking on enemy warships with your guns is NOT A GOOD IDEA. :o

Even in a confrontation with one, count 'em one, destroyer, you will always be outgunned on the surface. A task force? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Periscope depth, running silent, target the carrier, and send every eel in a forward tube hot and fast in her direction. Then dive and get the heck outta there.

I was disappointed to find out that the 88mm deck gun was not the same model as the 8.8 cm FlaK 18. I really wanted to take out some tanks.

Whatever floats your boat.....but doesn't obliterate your crew in the progress, I suppose :DL

Nothing should cease rendering whilst in an attacking mode....I reckon your installation is corrupted.

Madox58 07-24-10 01:45 PM

The only way I have seen a Unit disappear while attacking
is IF it's still following it's waypoint while attacking.
I had to setup a special mission for some tests.
I had the Unit disappear on reaching it's waypoint.
I was directly in it's path so it did not deviate from it's waypoint stuff.
It bombed me as planned and then did a 'Philidelphia Project' on me!

I play stock SH3, but if i happen on a lone or a convoy of 2 mechents, i aim for the deck gun they have...So even late war, pop up next to them, and blast away.
