SH3 UK DVD Starforce free

I want to run SH3 on Win 7, so I want to buy a later edition dvd thats patched to 1.4b and starforce free.But because I live in the UK I cannot purchase the gold edition.So out of these ones which one should I purchase ?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_....87_271&fsc=-1

I thought the revival one is the most likely to be starforce free ? Would this one be able to be modded with GWX3 ?

Please Help ASAP.

This one should be Starforce free

I doubt the other 2 are Starforce free.

Go the earlier and (currently) cheaper Focus version... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Silent-Hunte...9272682&sr=1-1 . It's definitely SF free and already patched (I bought a copy for installing on my Win7 64-bit rig, and yes, works with GWX3 ;)).

I think the Revival is a new Focus rebadging release.

Doesn't need to be starforce free.

as per the instructions in the sticky thread at the top of this forum simply install SH3, install the 1.4b patch then install the 1.4 no exe patch off the net.

i did this and i've had no issues with starforce showing its face, in fact its not even installed and i've got the standard UK retail version.

another tip is to install SH3 into a folder that is not within program files as windows 7 places restrictions on the program files folders and makes life difficult for future modding (hence all the "run as administrator" stuff)

Hmm not sure about that, ive got the focus version (barcode: 5031366016324) its v1.0 and incudes starforce, the box looks exactly the same, maybe there are 2 focus versions out there??

It's covered in the archives - something about disc label colour I think. I bought mine from the same link that I posted above sometime in the last year. 100% SF free and patched. The disc label is black and white (like the image on amazon.co.uk).

Just to point out: the official non-starforce version is more stable than the inofficial version you can find in the web. There is at least one CTD that does not happen in the offical version, but in the inoffical one (thanks, Privateer, for the information). Privateer once mentioned that some save game bugs might also be related to the inoffical version and from my personal experience I can confirm this. So, I think it's worth getting an official starforce-free version. The inoffical version should be removed and vanish. It's a shame that Ubi does not release a patch with these files for people owing the old starforce version and using the inofficial starforce-free version :nope:

Cheers, LGN1

If your resident in the UK, this is the one you should consider purchasing:

You should experience absolutely no problems with GWX3.0 either.

Revival is a rebrand of focus is it not ? Like EA classics, or Playstation Platinum ? I bought that one, is it official ?

HW3 07-17-10 05:34 AM

Yes, UBISoft licensed several companies to sell SH3 after they were through with it.

These gems I found when I went to buy Silent huter 5 from my local
PCWorld store.
My eye caught a game in the barging bucket side of the shelves.
It was Silent Hunter 3 now released by "Revival" software and right next to it
was SH4 in the original package.
I also spotted Trainz Simulator 2009 so down went SH5. http://www.silenthuntermods.com/foru...nded/clap1.gif
Ok lets sum this up.

SH3 = £4.99 (Free copy)
SH4 = £4.99
Trainz = £9.99

Not bad and that's what went with me to the checkout.
So I have a backup copy of SH3 just encase my original disk fails
A copy of SH4 to checkout if it has improved.
And Trainz 2009 which is a good game I must admit.
And to top it off when I got to the Checkout it was buy two get one free.

and yes starforce free :up:
