U-571

interesting note on this movie i watched the special features and found that they made an entire functional replica of a Type VIIC to do the open sea scenes. knowing that movies do blow stuff out of the water sometimes to attract viewers or make it interesting. so how much was authentic in that movie? were some of their tactics actually usable?:06: i figured i'd ask and post something different. :salute:

How much of the movie was authentic, well. Germans did use Uboats so thats authentic, and they used a enigma machine to code and decode messages is also autentic. everything else im not sure of.

...tis one of the most inaccurate submarine movies ever made IMHO.

From a topic long ago, one forum member pointed out 80+ inaccuracies relating to U-571.

I think the best part of that movie, is that some sound bites were used to good effect in modding SH4.

If you watched more than 10 minuets of the movie-please seek medical attention now. Only the History Channel could possibly screw up more.:salute:

Even the American procedures are wrong, down to the tiniest detail.

Kpt. Lehmann 07-15-10 02:34 PM

Well, it did have Bill Paxton and Jon Bonjovi in it... so it could have sucked more completely than it did... maybe...

... Wait... didn't they kill off both of them in the movie?

Sailor Steve 07-15-10 02:37 PM

Harvey Keitel I love. Bill Paxton is good. But the writing was turribobble.

Bon Jovi? And it could have suxed mores?

Kpt. Lehmann 07-15-10 03:00 PM

So I like BonJovi's music. SUE ME!!! :O:

I can't stand Matthew McGuaghnahey / McKgonnagey / McGawnahayy ... However you spell his name.

Come on now! You mean to tell me that you didn't love the superb writing, Steve? Matthew MGcGhauanahaigh's character only seemed a LITTLE psychotic.

I don't understand how it is that ole' MGonagaheai didn't get an academy award for bestest-wildest melodramatic expressions evah!

"Oooohhhh, I hope it flo-oats
