Best album covers

What is the most impressive, best designed album cover art you've seen? Or a cover that you like in particular for any reason, a controversial cover, you name it.

I like Pink Floyd's iconic cover for The Division Bell. It manages to send a strong message while keeping the design simple and clean.

Remember, a few words about it, about the band or included songs would be nice.

Also, keep it under 400x400 px please.
Should be enough.

I don't know about most impressive, or even favorite (I have so many), but this is what came to mind when I saw your post.

F.M ?

About cover,

krashkart 07-07-10 09:57 PM

Jethro Tull - Stormwatch

I loved the artwork on this album cover and the inside jacket when I was very young. This was the first one that popped into my head when I saw the thread earlier this afternoon. If you want the deeper meaning of it, to me it's where I belong: someplace very far away and remote, very cold and very unwelcoming.

Odds are 2:1 that I delete this post.

Odds are 100% that there's no point in doing it now. :DL

Seriously, though, why delete it? Everyone gets that kind of feeling from time to time, some more often than others.

Why exactly would anybody 'unsee' it? Not one picture I've ever posted has disappeared, except for a couple I've taken down myself, intentionally or accidentally.

I think I might be offended, but I'm not sure yet.

About cover,

1973. Two years before Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks joined.

Fleetwood Mac actually started as a four-man English blues band in 1967. Listen to this and you'll hear a much different Mac than you're used to.

I like this one a lot:

This is not only one of my favourite albums of all time but also my favourite cover:

And no neither statement is a joke.

I always thought this one was cool. Then again I liked most of Judas Priest's covers

I immediately thought of this:

Just as important was the inside:

I bought this album only a few years after it was released... to this day it still evokes many things to me.

Really cool stuff. I somehow missed that Jethro Tull cover, thanks for sharing krashkart.

I still prefer my Fleetwood Mac with Stevie Nicks included.

Extreminimalism. That would be Beatles, The White Album.

And tater, every cover of YES is like a painting to me.

Now for my turn:

You gotta love Sting's haircut made with leds :DL I like his haircut from Dune, when he's playing Feyd-Rhauta. I have this on an LP. I actually have a lot of LPs.

I'm not a huge fan of iTunes from this perspective. I enjoyed having two forms of art blended together. And I still prefer to buy real, physical albums.
