Flaw with Silent Hunter IV

Hey guys,
I have discovered a flaw with Silent Hunter IV. The flaw is that the Anti-Aircraft gun barrel goes through the conning tower like a ghost through a wall :haha: while not being impeded by physical matter, that would normally impede or stop the AA gun from rotating. The Conning tower does not physically stop the anti-aircraft gun barrel, instead the barrel goes through the conning tower like it wasn't even there.

Video proof. For best results, view in full screen with HD. I know, it's dark, I was out on night ops at the time.

Is there any way to correct this? It would be nice.

Aim it higher while turning it? :)
Minor cosmetic problem. The one with the AA gun post being bigger than the conning tower walls itself was more of a problem.
But if anyone had an idea like sawing off some inches of metal, why not..

Whether or not the AA gun's barrel goes through the conning tower, that video does nothing to prove it. We need a daytime external camera view from above and an oblique angle clearly showing the barrel passing through the conning tower.

Even if this proves to be true, it's just eyecandy messing up. It has no bearing on how you play the game, any more than the sub with visible holes in the side being able to submerge safely, the apparently undamaged merchie which still sinks, the transparent conning tower if the sun is directly behind it, etc.

Eyecandy cannot be trusted as any indication of the real state of a simulation.

I have a picture proving that the Bofors gun sight in TMO is larger than the sight on the port side of the gun.

I must be missing something... why would this be so important?

This one has got me stumped

.o(What was that thing again.. can't quite recall it.. i-something-list stuff.. hmm..)

I don't really see a problem there. It looks like it's working fine to me. :06:

I can understand why he reported it, but its not really something major.

Sadly SH4 has a few bugs that can raise much bigger issues.

Wait until you get a Conning Tower upgrade and then can't get the Radar to work, That one annoyed me so much that i disabled CT upgrades all together and just assigned each boat class a tower that i liked.

:har: Gotta love it. Hey, we're supposed to be having fun. That's an order!:D

what kills me is when the forward planes mess up and the riser gets stuck through the plate and it no longer works. to correct that you must reload the game. There is also the watch crew that forgets to go inside when you dive, i find that comical yet annoying but not as much as the planes messing up. That like said is only a visual effect it has no affect on the boat whatsoever. Glitches like these are easily ignored. I get so immersed in the game i tend to overlook the imperfections. The fun is in the hunt my friends. To hunt and BE hunted is the thrill of the game. I love it so. :arrgh!:

The stuck planes is caused by surfacing with TC higher than 1... afaik :88)

The submerged crew bug is prevented by not hitting alt-tab while in game.:yep:
