mission editor map unworkable

I recently reinstalled sh3/gwx and have also installed the widescreen resolution fix. The mission editor (last time I used it I still had a crt monitor) is in its native resolution, but the map is a smaller strip not covering the main window; it is unworkable.
I searched the forum if this has occurred to others also, but can't find anything about it. Is there a fix for this problem?
Thanks.

As far as I'm aware no fix has yet been discovered.

That's a pity, so that means that all new missions and campaigns that came with GWX e.g. were created on old monitors, or did they manage to be creative in another way?

Yep, changing the game resolution borks up the Mission Editor.

I don't know which res fix you are using, but if it's the one where you add the d3d9.dll (and some other files) to your game folder, you can temporarily rename d3d9.dll to something else (i.e., d3d9x.dll) and then open Mission Editor and it will display everything okay there.

After you close Mission Editor make sure you go back in to your game folder and change that file name back to d3d9.dll before reloading the game.

For other resolution fixes and mods I'm not sure because I haven't used any of those, but if so someone else can probably help with them.

Thanks, that works:salute:, perhaps I could have figured that out myself:88). I don't use the ME that often so a simple rename is not much of an issue.

I had the same issue and would never have figured it out had I not stumbled onto another thread here where someone mentioned it. I'd never opened the Mission Editor before adding the res fix and when I did just to see what it was I was really scratching my head trying to figure out why it seemed so unworkable on my system when so many other people here talked about using it all the time.

Thank god I'm not the only one:DL.

I'm not sure if this is the solution to your problem (In fact, I don't quite understand what you mean with this: "but the map is a smaller strip not covering the main window; it is unworkable.") But I used to have a problem with the mission editor not using the full screen. It was always just a bit too small, most noticeable when there is a properties window open. I always had to shift it up to be able to reach the cancel or ok button. Well, somebody made an edit on the mission editor program and this worked for me:

Yes the problem is solved, and with a simple .bat file in an elegant way
ren d3d9.dll _d3d9.dll
Sh3MissionEditor
ren _d3d9.dll d3d9.dll

with running this script you need not to rename it yourself (others found out themselves I'm sure). Only a rectangular map in the left corner appeared in the main window. I can recall the problem you mension where the 'accept' and 'cancel' button of the properties window were too low to be clicked. This doesn't happen anymore with a larger resolution screen, so I don't seem to need the patched editor. But thanks.
