Subsim fantasy football 2010 league interest
Before I wind up hijacking Aramike's thread:D...
If you are interested in playing FF this year, post here.:yeah: Or if you played last year, post your thoughts here. I haven't formed the league yet, but it's first come first serve. Change from last year; The league will be smaller. No 16 teams, that was a disaster. ....and I'll start our yearly debate: Auto draft or live draft.:haha: |
Yes, I agree a 16 team league was a little unwieldy. If we have that much interest this year, I think we should split into 2 leagues.
The live draft worked alright. It carried on a bit long, but I think that's because people were selecting players that were already chosen and trying to recap who had already been picked. Maybe we should have a worksheet with a running list of players chosen? I'm in this year. :yeah: |
Somebody explain to me how to play and I am in!

It's really simple. Here's the cliff note version. You pick 1 qb, 2 rb, 3 wr, 1 te, 1 k, 1 defence. And how ever they (the nfl players) do during their game you get points. Then we play head to head. It is somewhat management heavy, but it is addicting as crack. I'll type more later (short on time):D |
OK cool - I will take the time to read some detailed info and may have questions - like surely you have to be able to "draft" more than one qb - what happens if he gets hurt the first game and he is the only one you have - your screwed for the year?
And I am not total cannon fodder - I remember that NFL commercial - always draft your kicker first! :rotfl2: |
I'm in and for auto-draft.

You can trade players with other owners in your league, and there's a pool of free agents that aren't owned by any team. You can juggle your team throughout the season as you see fit. And commish: What about a "draft by email" system? |
Bah! You confused me when it said "football", thought it was for proper football, not your NFL.

although, I get $100 commision for every UKer I get posting in here to sign up for the football thread.:har: This is not a soccer thread. |

You can draft however you want, but after your first 2 games, I'll bet $100 you'll be banging your head on the wall saying "WTH was I thinking". Here's the deal with our draft: Live draft: pros: tradition, subsim comradery, user friendly (newbie), easy to fix mistakes. cons: takes >2 hours to complete, must find time when majority of people are avalible, technical issues with yahoo chat, major pain in the a$$ for the person running the draft. complicated keeping tract of which players have been drafted. Auto draft: Pros: Very efficient, don't have to spend the whole afternoon doing the draft:dead: Cons: not newbie friendly, you have 3 mins to make your pick or yahoo picks for you. No interaction with others. Anything I missed? Also, if you can't make the draft or are a no-show, that is a major hassle and source of frustration for everybody. If you can survive the draft, then the rest of the season is cake. |
I'd be willing to come out of retirement, but not if we are auto-drafting.
EDIT: Oh, by auto you are refering to Yahoo's in-house system. That's fine, then. I thought you were refering to the automatic draft feature where the computer picks for you. Nuts to that. EDIT 2: Oh, and should we decide to run our own draft, I will not be volunteering to run it. Did that for six years; no more. |
IN.
Suggestion: if you want to play, $5 donation to Subsim prior to draft day in order to secure your spot. We will after all be burning Neal's bandwidth. |

Of course I'm in! Quote:
Oh, and regarding the draft, a live draft is good, but I think that players not able to make the whole thing should have a list of preferred picks to give to the commish. |

Look, you leave a saucer of milk on the pourch and they always return... Welcome back to the fold.:D |
I'm in again! Hopefully the Green beans do a bit better this year :O:
