ATI CCC.. whered my overdrive go?

Okay before you begin harping on riva tuner I have tried it but prefer CCC okay ;)

Recently upgraded my install of CCC and diligently un-installed the previous drivers.

Two things ..

First the hardware is identified as a [H190L] in CCC but displayed properly as a HD4650 in device manager. Performance has been acceptable for now.

Second the 'ati overdrive' is no where to be seen. :stare:

I did a little web searching on the issue but found confusing conflicting information.

Overdrive is disabled for cards that dont have a temperature sensor. My guess would be the driver/CP is not identifying the card properly and/or not picking up the sensor.

I'd say either wait for a hotfix or use ATI Tray Tools for the time being (if that still exists ).

Might wanna keep an eye on what the fan does during gaming. If the software is indeed not picking up on the sensor, it's possible the fan will not be controlled either. You'd get the same situation as with a recent Nvidia driver that ended up damaging cards because of it. :hmmm:

Hmm... I've got the same card and CCC as well.

Haven't checked for updates on CCC in a while, I know I did it when I first got this rig last fall and again at least once since then. Was this a recently released driver update? Maybe I should forgo updating for the time being if that's the case. I'm not having any problems with what I've got right now.

hi,

I have a 4890 have have found "quirks" with CCC not functioning correctly when updating drivers (so i'm still running 09.11) - my advice is to; uninstall everything and update the CCC as well as the driver (there is full driver package on the driver download page)

I believe AMD/ATI only recommed a CCC version 2 driver updates old.

hope this helps

Well updating the drivers and CCC is what got me here in the first place.

The previous version 9.xxx had the overdrive but when I updated to 10.xxx (after removing the previous drivers) the overdrive went away.

I updated due to the fact that the previous version was having some issues (VPU recovery) after playing some games for a while. The new version fixed that issue but now no overdrive.

As to the gpu fan there is no real way to tell what its doing thats actually the main reason I want the overdrive.

Oh and to Frau.... If it works dont fix it ;)
