Boater chases mysterious periscope off Hollywood beach
http://www.upi.com/Odd_News/2010/06/...0971276885787/
I think someone's sub-driver is getting sloppy out there. What caught my attention was the article speculation about the sub blowing ballast as evidenced from the bubbles that came to the surface. I found it unlikely that the sub driver would blow ballast while running away from the fisherman. Subs don't blow ballast when on defense. More likely: the bubbles were cavitation from the sub speeding away. |

So close. Unlucky man. In other news, you're right, never leave the scope up for more than a few seconds. Six tops IIRC. That skipper was lucky that that fisher wasn't an enemy patrol boat. Not high odds on it being an Ivan boat, but I guess it's possible. Was there a nudist beach nearby? :hmmm: |
Most likely it was drug runners. They've been known to use subs to transport illegal drugs into the US via Floridian waters.

Maybe they've advanced in their tech? Remember, under Obama's watch - ANYTHING is possible! ;) |
What does Obama have to do with an 'iffy' periscope sighting? :06:

Probably a North Korean sub trying to pump a few incendiary torpedoes into a few cargo ships... |
What is the operation range of North Korea's best sub?
My money is on A. American Sub B. Chinese Sub C. Drug smuggling Semi Submersible of some kind. |
