Ubisoft is Toast

In my opinion, Ubisoft is toast:

Ubisoft shares have lost about 90% of their value in only 2 years. They are bleeding money like a slaughtered pig. Their stock value is now hovering around $7.50 per share. They have supposedly cut their staff from 400 down to only 50.

They are infamously well-known for releasing buggy, half-finished games, horrible customer service/communication, draconian DRM, and lack of correctly patching same said buggy, half-finished games. A perfect example is the recent SH5 release. They released only one patch that didn't address most of the hard-coded problems that remained in SH5, then dropped all support. They basically took the money and ran, leaving the paying customers with a still-unfinshed, buggy game. It was probably their plan to do this even before the SH5 release.

I am predicting sometime next year (2011) they will be forced to file bankruptcy. Good riddance. You won't be missed.

Hopefully they'll take a good hard look at themselves. :yeah:

I doubt it. Their business practices wouldn't allow that. With the way things are looking, they might not even survive through the end of 2010.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. It is fun to dream, though. :D

"Rohr eins. Los!" *Ubi sinks*
"Rohr zwei. Los!" *EA sinks*

Apologies for my bad Deutsch.

:DL I think the dream will soon become reality. With such a large drop in such a short time, their stock value is nearing bankruptcy territory.

They have nobody to blame but themselves really

Edit: Just noticed that the drop in shares starts when Ubi started introducing the DRM into nearly all of their games. Coincidence? I think not

I agree. They burned their customers one too many times. Plus the world is currently gripped in an economic depression. There is much less discretionary spending money available to spend on video games and such.

What annoys me is why don't they listen to what their customers want, and treat them with highest respect, games are supposed to fun, enjoyable to their customers/buyers. They are actually punishing the paying customers for piracy, go figure!:stare:

krashkart 06-14-10 10:11 PM

^^ Yeah, there are indie developers that make so much less on their games, who can take the time to communicate one-on-one with their customers. I respect that, and I spread the word about those companies. This one's for Cliffski >> (POSITECH GAMES RULES) :()1:

That, and then some.

Ducimus 06-14-10 10:11 PM

Ubisoft will lay blame on piracy. Never on themselves. :haha:

Once again a producer becomes so big they loose touch with the 'players' and begin to listen to the coorprate lawyers... its all down hill at that point.

Shame.... ah for the days of dynamix.

But not "Too big to fail".

Sadly though...in a way they will be missed . They dug their own grave... but, we all still remember that day when we first picked Up SH3....those were the days.

FIREWALL 06-14-10 11:46 PM

If UBISOFT comes out with something Shiney and Sparklie you'll all drop to your knees and yell " MASTER" !!!

We obey. :O: I seen to much jumping from one Bandwagon to the other to feel other wise.

You all are gonna get what you paid for. Wishes and Dreams. But... forget about what counts.

Zachstar 06-14-10 11:57 PM

They cant compete..

They have bad DRM and unfinished titles they have become known as a publisher to stay away from. This christmas they will be broadsided by EA and others and I doubt they will last very long into 2011 before ending it.

There is no chance of SH6 now..
