Sonar operator is mute?
 

Whenever I ask him to report on nearest contacts he just says "Eins" or something to that effect. When I watched Neal's test drive of Silent Hunter 5 prior to release the sonar guy actually called out contacts, bearings, etc. WTF happened to him? Is there a fix or mod for this? I'm using the 1.2 version plus a few mods but I doubt any mods would break the sonar guy.

I have a bit of this challange too, but all I do before I get started on a saved game is, ping a depth beneath keel to make sure I have voices, if not, I exit to the main menu then reload the save, this usually corrects the problem.
A bit of a pain in the butt, but, it does the trick.

Me thinks its time for someone to break out the SH3 picture that someone did when the hydro operator wouldnt report contacts (until the last patch).

This was the standing joke here that the Hydro operator be replaced with a bunch of bananas being as the bananas would be more useful. This was back when most of us Subsimmers had more tolerance and sense of humor and gave UBI the benefit of the doubt that they would FIX what was wrong with game, and that bugs happen just be patient.

The sonarman is a putz. He looks at you and says he can not do that right now. Yeah....ok. :88)
